General response to my surprise torrent -

#1 - OKAY - SOME of you here at originaltrilogy.com members MAY have it and so do my personal friends - for those few that do have it already, sorry for the surprise DL but your numbers are so VERY small and I did this for those that do not have it) This DVD has NEVER been seen before on the internet in a downloadable form (nor has a VCD/SVCD or AVI of it ) but reviews have been seen... This movie has been around for a few years now BUT not in this format. This is not a clip disc or the Holiday Special .

- Like all my torrents; I'm the first one to bring this to the internet for download and I suspect that this one will spread like WILDFIRE!

#2 - It's like a Christmas surprise* gift* - You're not to know what it is until you open it. - AND like a real gift, YOU MAY not like it (doubtful for any TRUE Star Wars fan!!) but this is my idea, my torrent, my release and I posted this for the true believers and Star Wars fans.

- SURE someone may (and this WILL happen!) un-rar it and redisto it with just the VIDEO_TS and that would be fine but rest assured once you see what it is your gonna kick youself for not getting it now in this form.

#3 - It would seem that no matter what I do someone will complain - ANYWAY I will NO LONGER respond to those who complain about my releases as there are WAY TOO many fans of my torrents!

- Word to the faithful...

*Surprise - sur·prise - (sr-prz)

*Gift - (gft) n.

1. Something that is bestowed voluntarily and without compensation.
2. The act, right, or power of giving.

I apologize for the direct link! I didn't know that meant to the tracker page; I was thinking it was the actual, downloadable torrent that was against the rules. Now that I think about it more, it's my bad.

As for complaints, I'm not exactly complaining (I'm downloading the torrent, after all), but things aren't quite working out efficiently this way. And I'm glad to hear this isn't HS-related. I would have been really upset if this torrent has anything to do with that damn Holiday Special. I got one copy about two years ago, and that's about all anyone needs!
Author

So it ain't the new Holiday Special mastered from master tapes, eh?

Hmm... that's what I thought a Christmas gift torrent would be.
Maybe.... (this would be awesome if it were true) is it a De-SEized DVD of ANH?

(yeah right)

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

I was told the sorce of my new Holiday Special was mastered from the source tapes - it looks WAY better then my first version.

I did think about posting that but where is the surprise in that

My guess for the surprise torrent? Two words: Wookie Groomer.

Awesome.

So glad I got a DVD burner. It's burning TCW onto a DVD-R disc right now. The one I got was DVD+R, and my DVD player doesn't like it.

So many DVD folders to download! hehe

Merry Christmas, all!

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

I hope it isn't that Turkish rip-off of Star Wars.

A new release of Star Wars is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.

If it hadn't circulated in AVI yet, that would seem to rule out the "Turkish Star Wars"...

Wow. A very Star Wars Christmas here: I'm simultaneously downloading the Surprise Torrent (up there in the first 25 or so leechers who will finish all within about two minutes of each other), Wookie Groomer's Usenet post, and WebDoc #13, while uploading (as the only seeder?) the Isomix trilogy.

Thank you for seeding the Isomix trilogy. I'm out of town right now, but I left my home computer on, downloading those torrents while I'm away, and it still doesn't seem like Empire and Jedi will finish by the time I get back on Monday. I'm home from college on break, and when I'm home are the only opportunitues I get to download big torrent files (college server blocking p2p progs), so I'm trying to make the most of it. Can't wait to tackle the surprise torrent when I get back...

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

@RB:

My personal advice? If you haven't started the Surprise Torrent by now, don't! Wait until it's not a surprise. I suspect what will happen is that a whole bunch of us will finish, the password will be published, we'll un-RAR the thing, burn it, and delete the original RAR -- thus dropping the traffic to near-zero. Once the surprise is not a surprise, then there should be a new torrent that isn't a RAR, and has an NFO, etc. Or, I guess some people will have to keep it as a RAR? I think these post-surprise scenarios haven't been thoroughly thought-out. We'll see, though, I guess!

I dunno how much longer I will want to keep seeding for the Isomix trilogy, but I will certainly keep it going as long as it takes for you to finish, RB.

Whew. Done the Surprise Torrent (now 40+ seeders, and growing). Glad to see it's not what I thought it was, actually. In my opinion, not quite as groundbreaking and awesome as it's been touted, but I would have downloaded the torrent regardless. I doubt people will be disappointed.

Thanks a lot! It seems that sometime between last night and now, there was a power flux or some such thing back at my house and it knocked out my connection. I finished SW, with Empire and Jedi still a ways to go. Like I said, I'll be back home on Monday when I'll be able to re-open the downloads, but I don't know if you're still going to have them seeded then or not. Either way, thanks for seeding for the time that you did.

BTW, my name over on MySpleen is "facehead". My typical username wouldn't fit.

@ RB/facehead:

I ran out of space on my drive un-RAR'ing the Surprise Torrent, so I took SW down. But yeah, I'll still have Empire and Jedi up on Monday (and beyond). Don't panic! I'll keep an eye out for what you're up to, and I'll make sure you get those two things before I retire from the Isomix seeding biz.

Just took a look at the Phantom Re-Edit 1.2 (Magnolia Fan), and I'm sort of disappointed. The video quality is good, but not great. The audio quality is passable, not great. I guess I'm not aware of just how crappy the VHS was, maybe, because this doesn't exactly stun me with its "DVD re-edit" brilliance. I'm glad I downloaded it, but I doubt I'll watch it again and again or anything. I haven't watched MagFan's own reworking of Eps I and II yet (DVDs should be in the mail, I hope?), but the chit-chat about them seems to indicate I'll enjoy those more.

First off...thanks to RiK (and word to the spookies) for The Phantom Edit 1.2 and all of the other cool goodies in the surprise torrent.

Now then, I've downloaded a LOT of Star Wars torrents from myspleen (55 or so gigs down vs. 25 or so gigs up) and it's time for me to really give back. I will keep sharing the ISOMIX trilogy, the TR47 trilogy, and the extras DVD all on unlimited upload. I've been greedy with my downloads since I joined myspleen last month...time for me to share so the other fans can get all of the wonderful Star Wars stuff that I've downloaded.

Wipe them out...all of them.

I've been having a hell of a time trying to get the surprise torrent (phantom re-edit).

It refuses to download, it remains "idle". Anyone know what to do with it?

Thanks for the seed! One question, though:

Is your download of Empire really complete? Because the info page for the torrent on MySpleen says that you've got 99.68% of it, but I know BitTorrent has been known to be picky about these sorts of things.

EDIT: Nevermind, it seems to have stopped being retarded.

Hal 9000, what operating system do you run ?
If it's Windows, which version ?
If it's 2000 or XP, which filesystem type -- NTFS or FAT32 ?

That torrent consists of a single file, larger than 4GB. It ain't gonna fly on a FAT32 file system partition.

Sharing is nice, and Rikter is a nice guy for sharing, but if he insists on using RAR for surprise
I wish he'd consider splitting the RAR into smaller 1GB chunks.
You won't see any 4GB VOB files. VOBs are split into 1GB chunks for exactly the same reason--
because >4GB files are unfriendly, and unusable with certain OS/filesystems.

Fear not Hal, if worse comes to worse I'm in KC

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

Thanks for the tip, that's probably what the trouble is.

I'm using Windows XP, by the way.
Thanks for the offer, I'll see if I can't get it to download though.

Can anybody else comment on the quality? Is it about the same as the other MagnoliaFan stuff?
And is this a digital re-working of the phantom edit that's been on myspleen for a while, or a different one?

Thanks.

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

Meh, the audio isn't very good at all(ripped from the VHS I believe) and the picture is all right.

Actually I needed the space after I downloaded and burned the torrents so I deleted them. I now have around 50 gigs of free space so what I did was transfer back the ifo and vob files and whatnot back to my HDD from the DVD and leeched the last umpteenth bit that was missing of the torrent (apparently the rest was in either my 'dvd covers' or 'soundtracks' directories).

Anyways...if I don't need the bandwidth (I share it with work and the wife and all), I'll be sharing.

Thanks gang.
