Okay...has anyone else referred to the ROTK EE as 'My Precious'? Please tell me I'm not the only one...

Sorry, not me. I refer to TTT: EE as "my precious". ROTK was so damned long just in the theatrical edition that I'm not sure I'm looking forward to the additional 45 minutes in the EE. But I'm a completist and seeing as how I've been buying only the EEs, I need this one or my collection will look off.

I refer to the Extended Edition of Fellowship of the Ring as "My Precious" because it is the masterpiece of the three movies. After the Original New Hope and Original Empire Strikes Back, I would put the Extended Edition of Fellowship as the third greatest fantasy film ever. I thought the trilogy took some missteps in the other two films, especially in the characters/casting of Faramir and Denethor.

I agree wholeheartedly. The Fellowship was a masterpiece and I will return to it over and over again. The other two will be watched much less often in my household.

but they will be watched.

I agree that Fellowship is great. However, when I compare EEs to Theatrical Editions, I must say that, in my mind, the EE helped TTT's story so much more than Fellowship's story. Fellowship didn't really need the EE footage to help it; it was a great movie in and of itself. However, I liked the theatrical of TTT much less than FOTR. But, when I saw the EE of TTT, I was so blown away by the additional footage that I now absolutely love TTT as a result. I admit that TTT, overall, has more faults in it than FOTR. I liked the TTT book ending much more than where Jackson chose to end it. Stuff like that.

Just my opinion of course.

Enough abbreviations in my message?

"Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause of the leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P."

It's highly overrated. Sleep, that is.

Mine shipped from Amazon on the 12th, so I assume it'll be here by Saturday.

I may have to go pick up the box set of the three; it's going for ~$100 Cdn ($33 per movie), which is better than buying them separately.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Not really, Amazon is selling the EEs for 23.99 USD, with s&h from Amazon that is still cheaper.

The ROTK Extended Edition did a great job of giving more meat to the villians of the movie. The scene with Sarumon is back in and it is a great scene with another great performance by Christopher Lee. The Witch King is given a proper introduction and a few great scenes to make him a fully fleshed out character. In the theater, he just seemed to be some sadistic clone of Sauron. It hurt the scene where Eowyn kills him, one of my favorite scenes in the book. The Mouth of Sauron is another cool scene.

Yeah, but then you have to add on Canadian shipping (more expensive) and duty and GST (which is applied to nearly everything that comes across the border). Methinks I'll stick with buying them locally, unless Amazon.ca has a better deal.

Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Mine came today from UPS, that little Minas Tirith that came with it is alot more detailed than I thought a movie pack-in would be.
