What’s the internal temperature of a TaunTaun? Luke warm.

You know, these only make any sense if you consider the horrible Prequels actually existed.

If you do not, and avoid what Vader has become in pop culture, he is a towering, imposing figure of oppression, discipline, fear and brutal efficiency that enforced the will of the Empire across the Galaxy.

Often, I find that my friends with the least knowledge in Star Wars (those who do not follow the EU at all, have barely taken notice to Star Wars references in popular culture, etc.) actually have the strongest emotional reaction to such scenes. That, in theory, should affect the "true" fans the most.

As much as we hate the prequels and bash on them for being horrible movies, we are already too damaged by them to sometimes properly enjoy references to our beloved OT.

TL;DR - I don't like Prequel Anakin, never existed. Kylo is awesome!

I guess if something's lame enough, it'll eventually cross over to the other end of the spectrum and become awesome.

But I doubt it.

My thoughts on the official trailer:
I thought that it was awesome.
Yes somethings could have been diffrent, but overall good.

One day we will have properly restored versions of the Original Unaltered Trilogy (OUT); or 1977, 1980, 1983 Theatrical released versions (Like 4K77,4K80 and 4K83); including Prequels. So that future generations can enjoy these historic films that changed cinema forever.

As an article I was reading today pointed out, Disney is really going after the younger audience with the marketing.

To them, that’s what a Star Wars poster looks like.

We need a Knights that say Nee Gif.
Maybe we don’t but I do dammit!

This kind of blows…

I completely understand why theaters are doing this in the wake of the actions of sick individuals, but that just eliminates more than half the costumes fans would want to wear.

The lightsaber battles I saw in a theater before TPM started are but a pleasant memory.

Because they fear some loon with bad intentions dressing up as Darth Maul. Nevermind that it takes time to get facpaint off, but these are the times we live in.

Presumably it would be okay to put the tattoo marks onto a clear mask which could be taken off to confirm the real face of the cosplayer and then slotted back into place for festivities. There must be a large selection of appropriate removable masks out there already?

I agree with their decision. It’s a drag for the folks who do it for fun, but we don’t live in an innocent world anymore. Too big of a film event. Batman drew in the mentally disturbed, as did the recent zombie con. If I had to guess, zombie con probably sealed the deal. Everyone dressed in blood and injuries made it extremely difficult to sort reality from cosplay.

Struzan has already confirmed that he has done more stuff, and not just the D23 poster, and he was in line to do the official one sheet. So I’m hoping we get to see some of the other concepts he finished. I guess time will tell.

I have to say, I’m extremely pleased to see it confirmed that the trailer music was not arranged by Williams. I thought it worked well enough for a trailer, and I adore the fact that they dusted off the love theme, but it would have been a serious bummer if those arrangements were indicative of the sound of the actual score. I’m not a fan of that kind of drum-heavy style at all.

While not as good as Williams’s work, I liked the music. Gives me some hope for the non-Williams films like Rogue One, etc.

Oh, hearing something like this in an anthology film wouldn’t bother me at all. I just don’t want it in a mainline saga film.

After seeing the trailer I also wondered about who was responsible for the new trailer’s music. The piano notes that played during the first few shots did not feel at all like William’s or Star Wars to me. At first I thought it was tracked music from some other recent score. Good to know that may not even be heard in the film. I’m not resistant to new themes, styles or composers in the stand alone films, as long as it’s not jarring or bland. I just listed to the soundtrack of “Superman Returns” the other day, and that was a great blend of John Williams’s established themes interwoven with a new original score by a different composer. I feel that Superman II-IV all did a good job in that respect. Again, I’m not worried as long as it’s a good composer / arranger working on theses stand alone films.

In spite of the name, Zombie con was a large outdoor event though. That’s a lot harder to control. (And as the shooter hasn’t been caught yet, the motive is unclear.) Theaters could search patrons or make them walk through metal detectors, but that’s an expense they probably don’t want. Even Disney lets costumers into their parks during Halloween events.

Why does my Spidey sense tell me they’re saving it as a retailer exclusive cover for the bluray?

It would be a nice surprise if this turned out to be yet another promotional poster and Struzan did the final one sheet.

My first thought upon seeing this poster was “huh, it looks like a Marvel poster.” Iron Man Three in particular came to mind, the way the characters almost look like they could’ve been painted.

My second thought was how much it reminded me of all the fan posters we’ve seen over the last couple years, what with Leia’s new hair style and costume. This was better in some ways and yet also worse at the same time. The fan posters were amateur attempts at the Struzan look whereas this was a professionally made photoshop job.

Which brings me to my third thought, which is how much this reminded me of that “saga” photoshop artwork you always see the movie news sites using in their stories about Star Wars.

Of course, seeing the first good look at Starkiller base also reminded me of Spaceballs.

I don’t know if this has already been said, but I would be upset if Luke Skywalker turned out to be Kylo Ren. That would ruin his whole arc in the OT.

That magazine article from months ago, it was either Empire or EW or Vanity Fair, had photos of Adam Driver as Kylo Ren without the mask on.

Are we sure about that? How about Kylo Ren being the son of Luke Skywalker?

Not only that, the final shot of the new trailer shows the back of Kylo’s unmasked head. That’s Adam’s hair (as seen in the VF photo, etc), not Mark.
