Color matching and prediction: color correction tool v1.3 released! — Page 22

I tested a LUT in Resolve Lite, and it works. I placed the LUT in C:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design\Davinci Resolve\LUT. It was then available when I started Resolve.

Yep, i tried the lut in resolve that's how i was able to export a lut for After Effects. Neither program changed the colors like the color model, using the same scene in the movie. All it did was up the brightness, really odd.

It built a color correction model, then when finished i exported a lut and tried it.

Are you sure you're using the most recent version? Because I used the standalone tool, to create a LUT, to match the Raiders of the Lost Ark bluray to the WOWOW as a test, and it works perfectly in Resolve Lite.

I'll download it again and try but it should be your newly revised version.

Anyone else experiencing problems with LUTs in Resolve?

I only checked in NukeX. I can try the Adobe one in Resolve when I get home.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

I just rendered a video based on a LUT I made using the frame that piota posted in his thread, and again it worked very well. I use the latest version of Resolve Lite on windows 10.

I used  Resolve 12.0b3 lite, i don't understand why it's not working.

Does it matter what video codec or format it's used on, there has to be something i'm not doing?

The colourspace of the input video could cause issues.

I'm also having problems with Resolve. I'm not familiar with this program, so I'm probably doing something wrong. I put the CUBE file from the ColorCorrect tool into the "C:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\LUT" folder. It shows up in the list of LUTs in the program, but when I select it I get the same error as DoomBot, "Missing Look Up Table". I also am unable to get the LUT to work in After Effects. Same error as before: "Unable to apply LUT from selected file".

Is someone able to write a short guide on how to go from the ColorCorrect tool to applying a LUT in Resolve? As I say, I'm new to this program, so everything I've worked out so far has just been by trial and error.

This is what the soldier frame looks like, if I use the frame posted by piota as a reference:

Does anyone have this frame from the JSC?

That kinda looks like a mix of the two- red face plus increase in whites.

As I stated previously, while regrading Raiders of the Lost Ark, I realized the bar fight scene has a delibirate red shift in all of the home video releases, and broadcasts, that does not appear to have been present in the original theatrical release. The trailers for the release in 1981, and the re-release in 1983 do not have this red shift, and at least one member on this forum who saw a 35 mm print screening, noted that the red shift is not in the theatrical version of the film. As such, I had to do a separate regrading for this scene.

Here are a number of comparisons for the upcoming bar fight video sample, to be found in the Raiders regrade thread (bluray top, regrade bottom). Considering this rather substantial change to the film’s color timing has not had much attention, I guess this will be the first time, this scene can be seen with it’s original colors.

The improvement is a good one 😃 The skin tones, hair, and shirt all look just right.

I’d say this one is still the best overall. It’s gets rid of that carroty redness that’s always a problem for everyone onboard the ship better than any other correction I’ve seen. Restoring a natural fair appearance. Great job. I’d be very interested to see these same settings from this version of the correction used on the Imperial officers we see on the Tantive IV, if you please, DrDre. 😃

Which officers are we talking about?

Commander Daine Jir - http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Daine_Jir

and Commander Praji - http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Nahdonnis_Praji

Thanks very much if you can apply the settings used in the picture I refer to in my previous post on those two officers (using the best possible close-up shots available in the film) at high res. =)

The Star Wars trilogy. There can be only one.
