In After Effects I'm getting "Unable to apply LUT from selected file".

Yep, I'm getting the same thing. I've tried both creating a brand new LUT from reference images and importing an existing MAT file and making a LUT from that. Both generate that error. I also can't get the LUTs to work with Resolve or Premiere. Both just go black.

That's odd, it's able to read the LUTs in Resolve with the sRGB setting. Can you export a LUT from After Effects, such that I can see if there is a difference between the delimiters for example?

I know I can load the LUTs into Resolve but it would just be more efficient as a plug-in.  You need to make the LUT and then put it into the LUT folder and then re-open Resolve.

A plug-in would be a great next step.  But an amazing job never the less.  Fantastic work.

Star Wars has truly inspired so many technological advances in our industry.  For better or worse.  I do feel as though we are starting to get over the shitty hump.  I think we are all learning how to use digital to make things better.  I recently saw the new Dolby projection system in NY and it's amazing.  The Revenant looks absolutely stunning on that screen.  I feel as though digital is finally surpassing film in substantial ways.

True, film can't hold a candle to the new dolby projection system, it is truly astounding.

If the LUT opens okay in Resolve, and you want to use the LUT in AE, load up a clip in Resolve, apply the LUT, right click on the clip in Resolve and choose "Generate 3D LUT" and export it to somewhere on your computer.

After Effects can then load the exported LUT.

Same thing happening here, "Unable to apply LUT from selected file". in both After Effects and Resolve.

I downloaded a program called Briz LUT Converter and used it to convert the .cube to .3dl and that loaded fine in AE - but the Briz converter trial only lets you convert 10 files and then you have to buy it - I don't know if there's any freeware that could do the same thing.

Here are the .mat, .cube and .3dl files from my test, so that you can check them out DrDre:

AnctuFaalb tested a LUT, and it worked in Resolve. You do have to choose sRGB for the whole path through.

Ok that did the trick, thanks DrDre :) Are you looking into why they don't work in After Effects or do i just have to convert them to work like what Harmy did?

Thanks! I think the problem is due to the delimiter, and/or number of decimals. The tool has been updated, and the LUT now matches the LUT produced by Briz converter, so it should work. I'm waiting for wetransfer to send the link.

Splendid!

Ol’ George has the GOUT, I see.

Excellent, as the LUT wouldn't load into Nucoda either without processing it through Resolve first.

I'm still get "Unable to apply LUT from selected file" even working in sRGB in After Effects.

Is there something i'm doing wrong here?

DoomBot, if you export the LUT using resolve lite (it is free) does the resultant LUT then load into AE?

The improvement is a good one :) The skin tones, hair, and shirt all look just right.

I'd say this one is still the best overall. It's gets rid of that carroty redness that's always a problem for everyone onboard the ship better than any other correction I've seen. Restoring a natural fair appearance. Great job. I'd be very interested to see these same settings from this version of the correction used on the Imperial officers we see on the Tantive IV, if you please, DrDre. :)

The Star Wars trilogy. There can be only one.

Yes it loads, although it's not looking like what DrDre's software predicted with the frame i tried, not even close. Same with resolve, not the same colors.

Did any of you test the LUT in Resolve? Does it work there? It's really odd, because I literally copied the LUT style exported by Briz converter, which it says is suitable for Resolve and After Effects.

Which officers are we talking about?
