IIRC, 1.0 wasn't graded against a reference. Obvious problems were fixed, I think, and some degree of correction was done to make different sources blend.

With 2.x, he attempted to match a Technicolor reference, and in each iteration, he tried to either better match it, or remove jarring transitions. I think the most noticeable grading change in 2.5 over earlier 2.x was the scene where Luke meets Ben, which looked almost monochrome it was so desaturated in earlier versions, and it got a little more color in 2.5.
