I sometimes miss the days before the internet, when we could enjoy films for what they were. Nowadays, it's all "I hate the trailer. It doesn't have this. It doesn't have that. It's not like the Star Wars in MY head".

Do you mean the days before the internet or the days before the World Wide Web?

People were bickering about the then-forthcoming Revenge of the Jedi online on Usenet in 1982.

The World Wide Web, of course. (I can't imagine your average Joe using Usenet in 1982)

To clarify what I was saying: I just feel like people can become a bit too passionate about things - Star Wars especially - and everyone wants it to be a certain way and if it isn't exactly how it is in their heads then it's obviously crap.

I'm not expecting transcendence with the new Star Wars film (that train left after Empire), but if I get something along the lines of the first Clone Wars cartoon or some of the better Star Wars video games then I'll be satisfied.

So far the story looks satisfying (Darth Vader cult, remnants of old Empire, Luke as hermit) and while I'm sure I will be unsatisfied with certain details, I am looking forward to seeing what modern filmmakers will do with the franchise (especially Rian Johnson)
