Anakin and Obi-Wan Comic series announced

To quote from Comicbook.com:

"At today's "Cup O' Joe" panet at New York Comic Con, Marvel Comics announced Obi-Wan and Anakin, a new five-issue Star Wars miniseries from Writer Charles Soule and Artist Marco Checchetto"

It could be good it could be bad. I'm not sure what they can do with only 5 issues though.

Princess Leia was lame, Lando is pretty cool. The five-issue thing really depends on who's writing it. I think it's the Lando guy, so that seems like good news. It would be neat if the new EU manages to make significant strides towards redeeming the prequel era.

TCW did a pretty good job at that. The Anakin in that series was pretty much the Anakin Obi-Wan was referring to in STAR WARS. The only problem is the jarring difference between Anakin in TCW and the Anakin in the PT. They're more or less completely different people.

Yes it would be, though in fairness the old EU already did that.

It's probably no coincidence that this will be out until January. Despite the vitriol many hold towards the PT era, there's no reason for me to automatically hate any thing set in that period. There's potential for a good story there, I'll keep an eye on it. I still haven't read any of the new Marvel stuff so I can't guess on the quality.

^I figured it must have, though I read precious little from that era. Anyway, with the continuity wipe they'll need to take another crack at it one way or the other. As for how the new comics are, I've liked most of them, but that's not a popular opinion here. on average they're a lot more fun than the novels, anyway.

Maybe if the entire universe aligns and George Carlin comes back to life you'll enjoy it or anything from the nuEU. I'm crossing my fingers.

I've liked some of the comics too but my interest is kind of waning for the main Star Wars & Vader comics. Haven't checked out Lando or Kanan. Am waiting for a few more issues to come out so I can binge on them.

Well Lando ended last week, so it doesn't matter if you wait any longer on that one now (unless you're waiting for it to be collected in a paperback, in which case it'll probably be a couple months). Kanan just wrapped up it's first arc, so now's a good time to jump in on that one too. Star Wars has a tendency to drag things out that can get annoying (the Cymoon mission didn't need to last three issues, and it's crazy that we still don't know Sana Solo's deal), but on the whole I like that all it's aiming for is episodic fun. Vader is . . . interesting. It's probably the most uneven thing going right now, but I'm too curious about where the hell they're going with this to stop reading it. The only thing I've out and out disliked so far is Princess Leia.

Seeing as I don't have much familiarity with Carlin's work, it's unlikely.

Looking forward to how the new canon treats their early days and I wonder if they'll attempt anything new.
