Looks great! The audio mix seemed to be too low on my system but that could just be me.

Thanks for all the comments. We are still in the process of reviewing the Reels, and the corrections being done to them.

Here is a more complete clip (8 minutes), which includes the previous preview:

NOTES : Stabilization, Deflicker, Cropping and Color Correction has been applied.

Crushed blacks and other artifacts are due to limitations of h.264 format.

Absolutely beautiful. The stabilization and deflicker are like a night-and-day difference over the previous iteration.

Didn't notice the crushed blacks at all, but there are a couple of spots where very bright elements in relative dark scenes appear smeared and a little soft. The best example of this is at around 00:50 and then again at around 06:40 for a few seconds. I'd need to do a side-by-side with another source to be sure I'm not imagining it, but is there any chance this is being introduced during the scan/cleanup?

You guys are doing incredible work with this. Eagerly awaiting the next release.

Still all aboard the hype train! Love it. Keep up the great work, and thanks for all the effort you're putting in!

May the Force be with you.

Was the colour correction changed from the previous sample? Now it appears that the slight green tint is finally gone, replaced by a slight pink tint (which looks a lot like professional examples of restored heavily faded film).

That updated sample looks even better! Man, can't wait for the entire film. Crazy good!

This is probably your best preview yet. It's amazing what you've done with this release print. Can't wait for the actually thing!

What’s the internal temperature of a TaunTaun? Luke warm.

Too cropped. it does look good.

looking for HDTV of the  Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.  Also HDTV of The Lord of the Rings trilogy

The only issue I found with the latest sample is the high-pitched whining in the audio. I'm wondering if this will be fixed or if it will remain untouched in the final release. Would there possibly be an option to hear a 5.1 mix as well? Great job either way!

Looks absolutely amazing. My favorite film of all time has never looked better!

The sound has not been finalized yet, and also the cropping will be the last step, however, it will be close to the theatrical version.

Thanks for the compliments, we appreciate them.

I can't wait. If I may ask: (and sorry if this has already been answered) what are you guys using for color reference?

Thanks,

I've had a look at the latest preview clip and it looks great, just like the real thing! Not that I would know, of course... but the colours are already looking good, and most of the picture is clear if not sharp. Not sure what was with that white flash at 7:31 though...

Ol’ George has the GOUT, I see.

Author

The white flash is just a white frame that will be removed. We use a variety of video and film sources for the color correction, like many of the other people doing these projects, we are not relying on any one source.

Continuing the preview of Reel 2, with the white frame removed, and other fixes:

This latest clip is very nice indeed!

The desert scene especially looks very nice...not too bright, as seen in a very popular recent release. Colors look very vibrant, if not a little too saturated maybe?... but that could be my VLC settings.

Great job overall team!

Looks pretty good!

The color seems to get a bit blue in the later desert shots, mostly once Obiwan is out (and especially the final shot).

I'm sure once it's released, it won't take long for someone to sync it up with the GOUT.

Congrats for the excellent work, are you planning to release a 4K DCP of it? it would be really incredible to see it in 4K DCP too, lesser compression, the dream of all of SW fans

They are only going to release a 25GB 1080P version

Sorry, I hadn't read the Whole 93 pages discussion,  but it seems they're doing an hard and long work with an incredble care! Why only a 25 GB 1080p file to fit on a Blu-ray? are they encoding it with HEVC at least to ensure best quality? If I'm not wrokg I read somewhere they started from 4K negative scans, Am I wrong?

I think everyone reading is on board with you. But TN1 makes it quite clear each time this comes up that it will never happen. Not even a 50GB 1080p.

Not sure why, but it seems they've made their choice. As for 4K, I don't know if they're actually doing the restorations themselves at 4K.
