The only reason I use the computer so much is that I have this nice little built in clock in the corner of the screen.

If I played games after 10, I know I'd loose track of time and be up all night.

Me too, but its just as easy to overlook that little clock in the corner.

Hmm, you'd probably have to be a long-time reader of Ctrl-Alt-Del to get that one probably.

Sorry to bitch, but I don't see how the campaign portion of Halo 2 could possibly be worse. There, that helped.

SPOILER WARNING

The campaing of Halo 2, so far doesn't seem as focused as that of Halo, as you switch between Master Chief and Covanent persprctives. It is all a matter of personal taste, though, because some people find mixing the perspectives cool. But I would rather play as Master Chief than the 'Arbiter' any day. Also, I have as of yet to encounter any Floodies, which created some of the most intense moments of the first game. I really hope they show up later.

Spoilers!

They show up. And damn do they.

end spoilers.

My gripes:

A) I don't like the level design.

1)There's too much crap everywhere. Obviously they did this to increase strategy, but it seems like they over-compensated.

2) They've made the weapons more powerful, yet the enemies are weak. SO they decided to just throw wave after wave at you. The first Halo was far more balanced. And its gameplay was graceful. This is just a mess.

3) half the levels are too dark to see what's going on even with the flashlight. And cool guy Arbiter doesn't even have a flashlight.

4) even if you CAN see what's going on, you still get confused because the levels make little sense.

B) There are some annoying bugs.

1)Every cutscene (for me) starts with like a 1/10 second shot of like pixelated animation. Almost like pre-production in movies.

2) Most of the time there is spoken dialogue, such as the cutscenes or when Cortana is talking to you, you can't hear what they hell they are saying because the music is too loud.

C) the story is god awful. When not totally incoherent, it's boring.

These gripes are just my opinion, obviously. But I can't help comparing Halo 2's campaign to, say, the prequels or the Matrix sequels. I guess it's tough when you're not allowed to do exact same thing over again for fear of being repetitive, and people are expecting you to top yourself. But still, it seems like Bungie totally lost track of what made Halo: CE such a great game, and instead threw every cool idea they could think of into a blender.

I'll give you B.

The cutscenes are really bad, especially the Human ones.

But when you get into it, the game is just as fun as the original. How can you not love the Metropolis (what a generic name) mission where you fly half way across Africa in a ghost and then take out a Scarab single handedly.

And at least there is voice acting. Metroid Prime 2 still uses text in its cutscenes!!

Like most of Nintendo's games.

I've just played a demo for the new Conker game, it looks like it has good potential.

I think it is just a remake of the N64 Conker with 39493 times beter graphics.

And of course, Xbox Live play.

So, I finally broke down and did it: I bought the kids a Gamecube for Christmas. now I can enjoy Metroid Prime I & II in all their glory when the kids are asleep.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Not entirely, but still, it looks like good fun.

Hey, Gundark. It isn't that violent a game. I dunno how olds you kids are, though.

And MP is quite technical, so they might not enjoy it.

Gundarkhunter, I would suggest Animal Crossing. I'm not into kiddie stuff, and even I thought it was great! It's a game that the whole family can play. Literally.

Wow. I'd forgotten about Animal Crossing.

Great game. It is so strangley addicting. How can game where you kill nothing be so much fun?

I'll have to check that one out. The package I got 4 the kids includes Mario Kart 2, and I picked Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly as well.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Did anyone ever get into that Pikman game? I never got around to picking it up and playing it.

Pikmin is fun, but it is incredibly hard, especially if your aren't good at multitasking (guitly)....

Hey, Gundark, enter the Dragonfly is a bad choice. There hasn't been a really good Spyro since Insomniac let it go.

See what I mean.
For a good platformer for kids, I suggest Mario Sunshine. It's a Player's Choice now, so you can probably find it for less than 20 bucks.

Also you could consider I-Ninja, Sonci Mega Collection, Wario World, Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom, Tak II: The staff of dreams, Finding Nemo, and Fairly OddParents, breaking the Rules.
