The way I had figured it is that Obi-Wan and Anakin would be the main characters at the very beginning, before shifting focus to the leaders of the rebellion near the end of Episode II and through Episode III (Obi-wan disappears at the end of Episode II, after defeating some unknown cloaked figure in a Tie-Fighter factory in duel. He takes the name 'Ben' as a tribute to a fallen friend of his, though this wouldn't be stated outright. He doesn't show up again until STAR WARS) Characters like Mon Mothma, that bearded guy in the briefing scene in STAR WARS, and Admiral Ackbar would be prominent secondary characters before taking the reins at the end of Episode II as we see the rebellion formed amidst the continuing rise of the empire.
