It's a very nice story, It sounds like a poetic end to a chapter of an awful lot of hard work with a splendid reward concerning your sons new interest and how it has affected him.

I listened to your podcast, and I enjoyed what you have to say about all sorts of interests that you have and so fourth, but what really struck me was when you were talking about how after watching Star Wars you had decided at 5 years old you wanted to be a film score composer.... That the music had the most profound effect but also that it was coupled with stunning visuals the like of which the world had never seen before.

I was only 1 year old when Star Wars came out but by 5 years old I too was either watching the film again and again or I had a recording that was made on an old 90 minute Maxwell cassette tape of Star Wars from Betamax. That I would listen too repeatedly because I did not need to see the film I could see it in my mind. I only needed to hear the music dialogue and sound effects and I was transported to that galaxy far far away.

I suppose nobody is alone in that experience when it takes you by force or with the force :) Looking back I guess it also really has influenced me very much without even knowing it until more recently as I love music very much, not all of it but a lot of music and I wanted to be a musician but kind of slipped away from it over the last 5 years due to work commitments mainly.

Anyway I'll get to the point of this spiel now... So the last year and a half (on and off) I have been studying the score to Empire Strikes Back for which I think is possibly one of the best music scores ever committed to film in my opinion I feel like I am nearing the end of that journey now of studying it. My question to you is....

Does the assembled cut (multiple cuts new opening for instance) of the film reels that John Williams scored the music to still exist with the timing bars and animatics and/or rough cuts alternative takes?

Basically what was on the screen when John Williams wrote the various music score?

Is it obtainable or perhaps viewable? Or is there any specific narrative that can address "this footage" with "this music"?

It's not intended to be a derailment either.. I think it's probably something you are interested in and no doubt I am sure you thought about bits or pieces of cut music while you were dabbling within Star Wars Legacy too.
