Okay this is weird. The "audio" button didn't do anything but allow me to switch between L,R, and LR. But your suggestion sent me to the options menu which allowed me to choose "soundtrack". The choices are "1" and "8". Unfortunately "1" is totally silent.
"8" works well, but it is in Spanish! Looking for English, sadly.

My guess is the MKV support in your player is pretty rudimentary/buggy. You might try to make a proper Blu-ray with tsMuxerGUI and ImgBurn.

On his blu-ray player? I know some players can handle MKVs (mine can't), but I don't know how customizable the software is.

Yeah I think it's my player. Cracking open the file in VLC I see that stream 1 is DTS and the Spanish stream is 2.0 Dolby, so I'm guessing my player can't handle DTS.

Okay for those keeping track at home I gave up trying to use my BluRay player's MKV player.
Instead I installed the "Beamer" app on my Mac and used it to stream the MKV to my Apple TV. I think it's even using the DTS track! Seems to work very well.
I love watching my seeds get uploaded by new people soon to enjoy this awesomeness.

The audio from the AVCHD I burned of Harmy's Star Wars (to a bluray disk) works fine.
The only way my Panasonic BD players will play both audio and video from an MKV is with 1 AVC track and 1 AAC track. You have to convert the audio. I recommend Xvid4psp, it works like a charm.

So I'm fairly certain I know the answer to this question already, but I've just finally obtained a blu ray burner and so I feel the need to ask it anyway: is the BD-25 version of this that was teased in the myspleen description anywhere on the horizon, or am I better off making one on my own with the MKV?

I've offered a few updated files to the guy who was working on it, and haven't heard a peep back. Not that he can't roar back into action soon, but I think he got sidelined for a bit.
On the other hand, a menu-free Blu-ray is very easy to make with tsmuxerGUI and ImgBurn, nothing to it really. It's how I prefer to watch these.

Oh I'm happy to forgo menus and put it on a disc myself, I just seem to remember rumblings that the BD-25 version would have higher bitrate video and I was willing to spare the discs and hold out for that if it was coming reasonably soon.

I will be purchasing a blu-ray burner shortly. I have already remuxed and repacked the SW 2.5 and ESB 2.0 MKV's into the PS3 friendly AVCHD's (using only the DTS HD-MA 5.1 and mono tracks) that I've been viewing from a thumb drive. Sadly the thumb drive option doesn't work on PS4, so I was wondering if my existing AVCHD's can be burned directly to a blu-ray disc and be playable. Has anyone else done this and been successful? Thanks in advance.

PS4 has been updated to work with USB drives and MKVs. Note: they haven't added the ability to select audio tracks yet, so you probably shouldn't include more than one. Also, as it's a Sony system and not Microsoft, they don't support NTFS. So make sure to use FATx for large files.
As for burning the ABCHDs to blu-ray: I think you can do that? I'm pretty sure that's what some people have been doing with Harmy's RoTJ 1.0 while they wait for the next version.

Right, my thumb drive is formatted as FAT32, but getting an MKV file of that size on said thumb drive without splicing the file is a can of worms I just don't want to open. Plus, as far as I know, I don't believe the PS4 will play an MKV file's audio if it's DTS HD-MA.
So I'll go the blu-ray burning route. Thanks!

Just to piggyback on the Playstation talk, what's the best way to watch Harmy's projects with a PS3? It's my bluray player and I think it only supports FAT hard drive.. Or perhaps I'm wrong.

Not sure. Mine is modded, so I can run a program called showtime that reads MKV and NTFS drives. Perhaps networked streaming after muxing into mp4 or .ts?

Is 2.5 the ultimate version, or are there far off plans on upgrading it further? Say, an upgrade to 1080p way down the line?
