The intro was weird, the TCM host introduces the movie as being part of a Telluride film festival retrospective (because that festival is going on now and Lucas did show the new version there in 2004). They give the usual production history/plot summary but never actually say the movie was changed, just that it's from 1971. It's extra creepy coming from the normally film history-conscious TCM.
