He should also take into consideration that just because we aren't constantly mentioning him in conversation, that doesn't mean we don't want him back.

For example, I wish Ziggy Stardust would return as a regular poster, but I don't mention him in every other post I make; it's not because of indifference -- there's just not much impetus to bring him up in conversation when he's no longer an active/lingering presence here.

So perhaps I should have simply posted a link originally...at this point I do not suppose it truly matters...

I see a bunch of fetus pictures there...I don't think you want me posting.

Yes, I could imagine you bringing on migraines for the moderators ;-) ...yet seemingly they tolerate a number of atheists there so there is some leeway to the discussions...I find it an interesting site due to my interest in philosophy and psychology. It is why I directed Trident there...I imagined it would either assist him, or provide an opportunity to see how he was received. It has been a mixed result...

Yes, it has a certain element to it that takes some getting used to. Naturally having had a Catholic background I am well versed in some of the common elements that posters typically gravitate towards...it does provide some opportunities to ask interesting questions...while my Philosophy Thread continues here to languish... ;-)

I believe he was primarily venting at me and had no intention for his words to have any real substance here...in hindsight that was probably not a fair post to link to. Yet you might understand my decision to do so...I detect in Trident a certain petulance that might lead him to lash out in such a way so that he might say exactly what he does not mean simply to have an effect...but I may be wrong...certainly if he does occasionally read posts here as he claims he has no good excuse not to clarify the matter...I will be more than happy to supply a new apology... ;-)

truth.  There many forum members that I wish would make a return that I don't mention all that much.  For example: Gaffer Tape, C3PS, Ferris, and some most here never heard of like  Bossk, mottie_soL, GundarkHunter, Shimraa, Yoda Is Your Father, Darth Chaltab, and ricarleite.   Just because I do not mention these people every day does not mean I do not wish they would return.

I honestly don't understand why, even with your past experiences. An aborted fetus would be an extremely offensive avatar, but what's the difference between a picture of a fetus and one of a baby?

I'm not Frink, but it bothers me some too and here's my two cents.  It's not the picture that's offensive.  It's the usage of it as a pro-life statement. The avatar in this case is meant to represent the person's beliefs, and therefore, advocate for them.  Though more of a positive reinforcement than some pro-life advocates I've seen - for example, Earth Day pro-life protesters used blown-up pictures of dead fetuses in San Diego, and it was uncomfortable to walk past and out of place at the event - it's still a misplaced emotional appeal.

Just my two cents.

I think he was more interested in proving me wrong than truly considering what he said to be true...or so I surmise...I rarely speak with him due to the frequency with which we swiftly run into misunderstanding...

It didn't look like an aborted fetus to me, it still looked quite alive.  Perhaps I was looking at a different picture.

I never said it was an aborted fetus. In fact, I strongly implied that it wasn't.

they use it that way because they want people to see just what is being aborted.   It is not some cell or a group cells or what not, it is something that looks eerily similar to a baby.   They don't think this should be ignored and neither do I . . .

. . . but there are cases where I think they go too far and the above is one of them.
