The Rock is the better transfer because it's anamorphic while Armageddon is not. Here's a review comparing three different versions of Armageddon on DVD.
And here are DVD File's reviews for Armageddon and DVD Times review of The Rock. Basically The Rock looks best, but Armageddon has better extras, so there's no definite win-win choice. Of course as I said before, both movies are terrible so it's really lose-lose either way
