PM Sent. You'll need a bittorrent client for those links.

Please don't ask for downloads again though. I'm only doing this for you once because you are new here. It would be wise to read the rules...

Dammit, don't encourage these people who show up, take, and disappear.

Yeah Dan, we want 'em to buy the cow but you keep giving its milk away for free. Frink is never gonna land a decent guy at this rate.

Off topic, Frink, but your signature is hilarious.

Yes, I think the links in my signature lead to very funny places!

Hello there.  I know there must have been countless questions about "where do I download this" before.  So I'm not going to ask that.

All I want to know is, is it still possible to find a way to download the despecialized verison of Star Wars if one looks hard enough?  I've never torrented or otherwise downloaded warez of any kind before (do people still call them warez?  Or is my 1990s terminology showing?), so I really don't have a good way to gauge the availability of this download.  I just need to know, is it worth my time to even try?  Or has it all dried up by now and I'd just be wasting my time?

For what it's worth, I plan to show Star Wars to my son, who is 7, for the first time as soon as I can get my hands on a copy of this.  I won't show him the bastarized special edition version or anything that Lucas screwed with since the original release.  However, I will buy the Star Wars Blu-Ray and leave it in the case, never to be opened, because I personally would not find it ethical to download the despecialized edition if I didn't already own the Star Wars Blu-Ray.

I just need to know if I should even bother spending the minutes (or more likely hours, for me, since I am literally started from square 0 with regards to knowing how to go about finding this thing) necessary to acquire the despecialized version.  I'm not asking where to find it, I just want to know if I should look.

Thank you!

If people are seeding (and I know there are at least 140 seeders right now - do not ask me how I know), then you can download it easily.  Sadly, myspleen is down right now, so all those seeders are useless.

The public trackers are up. And probably more relevant to bji's post of "not asking for it but is it out there?" as it means he can get it immediately. :)

Come on people, there are even youtube videos with exact instructions about HOW to get this!

Thanks for the info; but my point was really to understand whether or not the various instructions out there, of which I am sure 95% are out of date and don't work any more, are worth following, with the alternative being that things have been shut down so hard that the only way to get this thing is to "know somebody" (and unfortunately, I don't "know somebody").

Anyway, I believe I have received ample responses now to indicate that yes, you can still get this from publicly available locations without special connections.  Which is encouraging to me.  I didn't realize that there were YouTube videos on how to approach finding the download, and thanks for the pointer there.

Thank you again for your time and your responses.

The instructions out there involving JDownloader are valid. You can also find live torrents on the site that really kicks ass ;-)

OK well that was much easier than I thought it would be.  Ordered the Blu-Ray set while downloading it to ease my conscience.  Now on to Parts V and VI ...

Sorry for the noise!

Don't worry. It won't be long before someone else comes along and tells us that it is literally impossible for him to download these without a myspleen invite. Welcome to the conspiracy.

Should have been posted in Mike's thread. Media articles about these projects always make me kind of nervous, but at least this one was clear about the fact that it will not be made available.

edit: When I first posted this comment, there was a link to a french article. Now there is a huge image.

I hope the huge image thing is fixed in the new software.  Why don't people look to see what they posted?

They did. They posted a link to an interesting article about Star Wars Legacy, looked at their post and realized it wasn't two giant ass cropped images, and then edited to fix.

What's interesting is that they used one of my color corrected frames of the bluray as "the original". They probably assumed it was from Legacy. I started a thread on theforce.net about Legacy. It's been one of the more popular threads, and Mike himself also posted there, to explain about Legacy. I also posted some of my corrections there to show how bad the colors of the bluray are.

I downloaded the ESB MKV file and bought a large enough USB stick to fit it. I then plugged it into the USB slot of my Bluray player and started it playing.

The video looks great, but there is no audio!

Any suggestions? The bluray player is connected via HDMI into my home theater amp.

The audio from the AVCHD I burned of Harmy's Star Wars (to a bluray disk) works fine.

Did you try switching to a different audio track using the audio button on your player's remote?
