What, the old story about somebody having Found Luke's lightsaber in the depths of Cloud City?

No, the idea that there would be some sort of flashback sequence in TFA, which has been around for quite a while.

People were speculating it would involve a scene with an OT Leia since Fisher's daughter will appear in the film.  However, I'm guessing it'll be a bit part.

They confirmed in a recent article that the Laser Sword is found in cloud city and was Anakin's / Luke's Light saber.

But there is no confirmation of any flash back sequence... But the Toy  I suppose does suggest that cloud city will be visited in some way even if only very brief.

I am leaning toward it being found in depths of cloud city... Is that from the Thrawn trilogy?

This has already been discussed many times. Why people believe that a toy depicting events in Empire Strikes Back has any implications for The Force Awakens, I don't know. The Cloud City Luke toy doesn't have the 'The Force Awakens' subtitle on the packaging. This means it is not from the movie, but rather is just part of the same current range (having Kylo Ren on the packaging, etc).

For years, all of Hasbro's figures from every Star Wars movie have had Darth Maul on the packaging. This doesn't mean these characters were in The Phantom Menace, as I'm sure you're aware.

Ah I had not seen the toy so I had no idea about it.

But what you said makes sense that the toy is nothing to do with the film as per the Logo or Branding.

Nicely cleared up.

But it still does not mean that there won't be a depiction of when the Light Saber was found... I mean that Light Saber is basically in 5 of the films at the moment and soon to be in 6 bar TPM episode 1.  Or at least I think that is right.

Whoops forgot it is not in ROTJ so it's in 4 films soon to be in 5 of the films.

Big potential spoiler here of something long rumored and now possibly confirmed.

Start at 33:02.  Apparently the cloud city Luke toy, may not be a coincidence.

Sadly another site that refuses to face the facts that, while Gordon may well be alive flash is dead.

Yeah, namely creating that clone, "Luuke Skywalker." Personally, I always found those extra Us in the clone names in the Thrawn series reather silly.

And indeed, more web pages need to get with the times and stop using Flash.

This so much. Consecutive-voweled clones is an aspect of the EU that I won't miss. In fact, the Thrawn series would have been better off without any cloning involved. The "Joruus" character could have just been an insane man who Palpatine gave some Force training to and appointed guardian of Wayland.

It wasn't in Attack of the Clones, either.

Then what lightsaber was Anakin using in that movie?

A transient saber that was sacrificed to demonstate the cutting power of assembly line machinery.

God, I hate how unpersonalized and replaceable lightsabers were treated in the PT. Obi-Wan goes through two (or three, if you count Qui-Gon's weapon) before finally getting his signature lightsaber from SW in ROTS (And even then, it's not a film-accurate replica of the SW saber.).

Mini-teaser this time :D

Is it just me, or the "narrator"'s voice is a bit "synthetic" this time?

Nah, just different takes (better than the ones in the first teaser, if you ask me), with the first one having some reverb added to it.

Nice to see Finn looking confident and collected for a change, though I have the distinct feeling that this confrontation will end up much like the one in TESB.

As an aside, I'm still crossing my fingers in hopes that we'll be spared the now done-absolutely-to-death strong nigh-invincible / impossibly capable heroine trope; which might yet rear its ugly head if Rey has to show up to pull Finn's fat from the fire in his fight against Ren.

Got a cool, mysterious, menacing villain? Great! Try to keep him that way by not showing him getting the living shit effortlessly trounced out of him by a slender, petite young woman just because girl power / empowerment / role models / girls-rule-boys-drool / Bechdel Test / blah blah blah feminist sloganeering.

Right. Been a while since I've seen that movie. And then of course, he ended up with someone else's saber.

I was trying to be subtle without spoiling it for anyone who may not have read the series, but may still be thinking about it.

The hilts look basically the same from scene to scene, but there are also differences in the context of the same films. Luke's (Anakin) saber has differences from the ANH one in ESB and even differences from scene to scene in the context of the same movie.  Hero (Close up) shots are very few in the context of the films themselves, so it's really no big deal. The main way to spot difference is look at the prop photo books.

That's just part and parcel of the art of illusion that comprises movie-making.

Subtle? Moi? But that's just not my style. You should know me better than that by now. ;)

Look at my username; do I seem like the type of fellow who likes redundancy?

(Don't answer that.)

I've seen that shot of Kylo Ren from the first teaser so many times that having it cut to something else feels almost jokey. It's nothing at all to do with the actual Finn shot, but there's a fanmade-youtube-mashup kind of rhythm to the cut.

I found his new saber sounds quite interesting. The three prong design is still idiotic though.

The Bespin Luke sculpt in TFA line has been around a while.  They are releasing a Jedi Luke in the armor up set as well.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

It's the sort of thing a fanboy would design while thinking it looks hella cool.

Yes, that lightsaber sucks and always will suck, regardless of its practicality or the overall quality of the movie itself.

I wonder if any faneditors plan on removing the crossguard blades once the movie's released on Blu-ray.

How do you feel about Maul's?
