And it's a great piece of work - thanks JF :)

You're welcome.  I wish we had the teaser trailer as well.  It would make for a more complete comparison.

This might already have come up (albeit seemingly not in this thread), but the theatrical edit of the pod race sequence is included as an extra in the digital release of TPM.

No idea what resolution it's in, though.

It's good that you pointed it out because they are quite many who are not aware of that. I wonder how good it looks. Has anyone put it to vimeo or anywhere else? I'm not going to buy TPM again just to see one 10 minute scene.

RU.08 - I will paypal you half the money to buy the digital version of TPM for the podrace sequence if you're interested in using it. Where are you at with this?

I have the digital version already, but would need some advice for capturing the video.

Unless the scene is different to the DVD extras it will only give you the Sebulba shot in potentially better quality than on the DVD (and it's probably the same quality) - the crowd shot isn't in it.

schorman- You can use WM Capture to capture it in "perfect quality" (noting it's a capture tool not a DRM stripper), or if you have the iTunes version you can use one of the available DRM strippers (eg. Requiem, TunesKit, NoteBurner, or M4VGear). There's no DRM stripper for Amazon Instant Video or the others that use Silverlight, except perhaps for Aimersoft DRM, but it's unclear whether that program is genuine or not (you could try the trial and see if it is a DRM stripper or simply using screen capture to "strip" the DRM).

Well, the iTunes extras cannot be downloaded, so I don't think the drm strippers would work.  Btw it does has the clapping shot included as well.  Send me a pm if you have any other insights.  I'll try WM Capture to see how it works.

Doing my best to get you something usable. I grabbed the Google Play version - sadly, it appears their releases are just Youtube videos (viewing on the play store points to youtube in the source code - followed the code and ended up watching on a standard youtube page).

You should be able to rip it then, right? I've managed to snag paid youtube videos before, though their protection may have evolved. Or just concerned about YT's bitrate/encoding?

I thought Google Play was inferior quality to the competitors, anyone care to comment?

Thanks for the clip nspoet - I'll look into it further, but the crowd shot should be an improvement over the LD/DVB source one, and the sebulba shot should be pretty close to the DVD quality, but it may also prove to be an improvement once enhanced correctly.

Did anyone here contact me on Wookieepedia because of this picture?

There's a small but HQ segment of that shot on the BD, but it's incomplete and so unusable. Not sure if you wanted to know that, but I thought I'd share anyway :)

@Alexrd That was me. I only asked because I hadn't seen that shot in that high of quality before and was curious of your source.

Apparently I need to feast my eyes on the blu shot :P

@Valeyard this is a VERY quick and dirty comparison of the Sebulba scene (gimp lanczos3 upscale of GPVOD vs your lossless upscale of the extras dvd)

I figure if a rough scaling can put them that close, your scaling script will probably work wonders.

Yeah there are undoubtedly new details in the digital extras source for that shot, and it doesn't have the chroma crosstalk problem of the DVD extras version.

Like RU.08 pointed out, I took it from the Blu-ray extras. It's in the Coruscant featurette, IIRC.

Is that frame baked into every extra? I hate watching them like that.

I definitely can't match that quality, but I should have the 2013 German ORF1 DVB to you in about 20 minutes if that helps. :)

What's that? A recording off a German DVB done in 2013 - and it's the theatrical version? If so it sounds very useful particularly if it includes all the scenes I'm needing to upscale...

clutchins - yeah I agree it's f-ing stupid to windowbox things like that.

Is the ORF1 rip 16:9?
