Don't worry there's no rush.  I can give you advise on how to extract on Windows, if you need help.

Yes, please :) I tried on my mac and it was a disaster. So if it's easier on Windows I could do this on my PC.

ANH desperately needs a reseed.

Unfortunately, I don't have the original file anymore.  I think I changed the subtitle font or something, anyway.  I'll get it to you in another way, just give me a few days to get it sorted out.

Doing my best to seed this the last few days. Big file and perhaps someone with a slow download speed. :)

My computer apparently restarted itself or is otherwise disconnected. Will start it up again once home. I think he was at least 3/4 of the way done.

I'm trying to leech it myself, and I'm getting nowhere. The two seeders present are producing 0 kb/s. Mr. Schorman, can you grant me the favour of getting ANH another way?

I ended up being able to fully download ANH and seed it back in a 1.000 ratio (I have like 50 other seeds right now)

That's good to hear, but it doesn't answer my problem.

Well I had the same problem as you. All I can say is wait for the seeds to swarm and you'll get it eventually, whether it be a few days or a few weeks.

I don't get it, I didn't have this problem with ESB or ROTJ... why ANH, it's the first one!...

Guys, hey. I know there is that other thread, but the edited OP implies that invites are no longer being given out left and right.

I've been looking for this release on rutracker, among other things, but I can't find it.

If the only place it's available is myspleen then I suppose I'm asking for an invite.

I have 0 experience with this, but how hard would it be to sync the BD audio of RoTS to Schorman's version, and what program would be best for this?

Schorman's preservations are amazing and uniformly better than the BD's video wise, I just like the lossless audio of the BD's and I think RoTS is the only one where you could theoretically Replace the DD track with the DTS HD track. Even AotC seems to have rejiggered editing.

Any advice would be cool.

Sorry for the off topic but if you still want Amadeus Theatrical HD check your PMs.

You will find the invite thread in off-topic.  Please go there so as not to clutter up this thread.  Thank you.

Hey schorman, these are great.  Any chance you'd be able to upload the theatrical cut of ROTS with the restored wipe onto the spleen for those of us who use Macs and aren't Avisynth savvy?

Sure, I will post the theatrical version, eventually.  I am working on v.2 of these using some improved sources as backup to the German HDTV rips.  I'm doing a second pass looking for encoding errors in the stream, which is extremely tedious I might add.

I've moved ROTS to the front of the queue so it will be completed first, but I can only go through about 20,000 frames per sitting. That means it will take around 10 sessions to complete.  This should take between 2 weeks and a month for me to finish.

I also need to double check some things with the DTS mix, as some changes have been made to my decoding procedure recently.  That might take another 2-3 days.

Basically, the German HDTV rip has the best picture quality, however, there are many instances of missing frames, damaged frames, encoding/decoding errors.  In v.1, I patched these using the "hV" versions found on torrent sites.  The "hV" versions are re-encoded from different UK Sky TV Broadcasts.   In some cases, the Blu Ray was utilized to help fix errors as well, though very rarely was it used as is.  Due to the re-encoding and different bit-rates, the German and hV versions didn't exactly match-up perfectly, and some sharpening /color, contrast, or brightness tweaking/grain addition was necessary to match the different sources.

Errors in the German rip were initially spotted by resizing, inverting, and merging the HDTV rip with the 2004 DVD versions.  This made most errors in the HDTV rip relatively obvious, and the patches were put in to fix these errors.  AOTC is by far the most complicated film in this regard, as there are encoding errors roughly every 10-15 seconds during the film (This might be an exaggeration, but not by much!).  Other films, like ROTS, had only a couple of errors (I think it only has three or four patches in total).

Anyway, v.1 looks pretty great as it is, and it's frame accurate with the 2004 DVD's, however looking closely at the video reveals frequent encoding errors on the stream.   These errors are not readily apparent using the procedure I used to look for errors in v.1.  I can post pictures later, but they appear as blocky frames and frequently display horizontal banding in the image.

I have noticed a few patterns to the errors.  Mostly, blockiness is apparent in dark/black portions of the frame and the encoders used seem to have a problem with the color green.  Basically, dark scenes and scenes with lots of green/vegetation have the most errors.   As such, AOTC and ROTJ have many errors.

About a year ago, I started to work on v.2, and completed new versions of AOTC and ROTJ using the same sources for patching.  However, they were extremely tedious and hard to slog through.  In addition, the patches were not matching as well as I would have liked, and I just got a little discouraged with the process.

After another thread mentioned some alternate sources for HDTV rips, I was able to download some French-language versions based on the same UK SkyTV  rips.  However, these were much higher bit-rate, and not re-encodes.  As such, they are not quite the quality of the German rips, but close.  The colors match almost perfectly and they generally look much better than the "hV" versions.

The snag is that ANH is missing the last 20 minutes or so of the film, and ROTJ is unavailable in this form.  I've found torrents for the original SkyTV rips, but they're from 2008 and have no seeders now (If only I could get on the HDBits tracker, I might find them there).  I've continued to search for these, but with no success.  As an alternative, I've located some alternate rips from Cinemax for ANH and ROTJ, again, in slightly lower quality, but still better than the hV.

The plan is to redo all patches and fix encoding errors using these new sources.

As of now, I'm about 25% done with ANH, 10% done with ROTS, and have the completed versions of ROTJ and AOTC from last year, which need to be redone using the new source material.  That leaves TESB and TPM with the most work remaining.  I hope to finish ROTS first, and publish both the DVD and Theatrical versions around the end of this month.

That certainly sounds worth waiting for. Luckily for me, Ep1 of my edits don't use this and can proceed. I'm glad you're doing ROTS next, so it'll probably be there when I'm done with my Ep1. Then I'll just have to wait for AOTC.

Thanks for the detailed information. V1 looks flawless to my eyes, so V2 ought to be really great.

Here's a little update on my progress:  I'm a little more than 90% done with my first pass through Episode 3.  I'll be doing a second pass to look for any last visual glitches, encoding problems, etc., but that should be much quicker.

Second, I'd like to include some more language options for my v2.0 releases. However, I currently only have the Region 1 DVD audio tracks, and the German dubs in 5.1.  I'd like to include the French, Spanish, and Italian 5.1 dubs as well, if possible. Please let me know anyone could share these for the six films.  :)

Third, I have finally found the original SKY TV rips of ANH and ROTJ, thanks to nzbking.com.  So, unless the WOWOW rips ever turn up, I finally have  the raw materials for the video portion of v2.0.

Lastly, when I finish Ep. 3, I will also encode a theatrical version, and include the theatrical DTS mix.
