Looks like Zombie let his domain expire; what a shame.

I'd gladly put my saved versions of the articles on my site to keep them available, but the email address I had for him is dead, his inbox is over the limit and the YouTube channel doesn't have a contact address I can find.

Don't worry, look at his facebook's page: https://www.facebook.com/secrethistoryofstarwars

for everyone wondering, NO, the site is not dead and buried. But it will probably stay down until July or so. It's a bit complicated, but hopefully when it re-launches it will be better than ever.

In any case, you can still access to a backup using the waybackmachine: https://web.archive.org/web/20141218083642/http://secrethistoryofstarwars.com/

His legacy is safe :) I'm more concerned about savestarwars.com, which is long gone. Here's a backup from waybackmachine: https://web.archive.org/web/20141218111044/http://savestarwars.com/

If the creators of either of these sites is interested, I'd be willing to provide hosting on the new server if it helps. Depends on their requirements, of course.

It looks like both domains have expired (with secrethistoryofstarwars.com pointing to a Japanese matchmaking blog). If they can't get the domains back, I'd be willing to host them as subdomains of ot.com. I'd hate to see them disappear completely.

Newbie to this forum here ..... thought I'd check out the original site,as supposedly after july it would be back and better than ever. Just went to it and at that address (secrethistoryofstarwars.com) I found a page filled with chinese (I assume, could be japanese for all I know!) writing and a bird cage! Very strange- I could see if it were all still star wars but in a different language, but a bird cage?!!

*edit - nope, he doesn't own the domain anymore.  Picked up by someone in Japan in May.

Looks more like his domain expired and got picked up by someone else. A stock WordPress blog does not default to Japanese placeholder content.

yep, you're right.  the new registrant of that domain is HIROSHI ISHIURA.

Weird...

That's just a stock Wordpress blog theme. Looks like he's in the process of rebuilding the site.

Is it just me or were the SEs hated far more before Lucas sold Star Wars to Disney? When Lucas owned Star Wars, everyone was saying “the evil Lucas is holding back the awesome OOT and shoving the awful SEs down our throats.” When Lucas sold to Disney, people switched to saying, “Disney wants to give us the awesome SEs but a small group of fans is trying to shove the awful OOT down our throats.”

I think the general attitude toward the powers that control Star Wars has turned the tide from angry to optimistic, but if anything the outrage against the SE is even more widespread now. Think how well known Harmy’s Despecialized edits are. Whenever the Star Wars Facebook posts about rereleasing the movies half the comments are either “won’t buy if they aren’t originals” or “I’d rather watch Harmy’s.”

That’s why I’m convinced we’ll see an official OOT release by 2019 (Or whenever Episode 9 is hitting theaters) at the absolute latest. Actually, 2018 would line up with the “every seven years” pattern we’ve seen so far and serve to hype up the final chapter of the currently-being-made trilogy just like the OT dvd in '04.

That’s the distraction of The Force Awakens, plus the primary target of fury having thrown down his lightsaber and retired.

Look at the comments next to any SE release.

People still booed Han shooting first and Hayden in ROTJ at an OT marathon (2011 cuts) I attended last Christmas.

The better question is: are we doing enough proactively and politely to let Disney know?

There has always been a segment of the fandom that likes the SE’s. (Some have even gone out of their way to deride this site.) They don’t even want a world where both versions sit side by side and people can choose what to watch.

The general public is less aware of the situation, as the movies haven’t been referred to as Special Editions since 1997.

And this is why I slightly worry.

Who is actively - what’s the word - lobbying for this?

Save Star Wars has gone down - the general public know less and less - and nobody whatsoever mentions this at Lucasfilm any more.

Are we in danger that the quality of Harmy and other restorations is counter productive to Disney restoring it?

But then: look at the attention the recent Landis rumour got. The movie sites all picked it up, but so did some mainstream news sites, including Forbes…
