In the hope of ending this edible animal strand but at the risk of extending it, killing and eating animals is the same thing be they things considered pets in the West or not. This is the internet, it's an open forum. As someone who doesn't eat animals at all I am as distressed by a roast chicken as I am at a roasted cat.
I discovered today that my sainted great grandmother used to drown kittens. This fresh revelation has really weirded me out but cats served a function in rodent control in the past. Excess numbers of cats would be unsustainable and paying for a vet to call an end to the reproductive life of a cat would have been expensive. But I can't shake the idea of my lovely nan holding new born kittens underwater.
"What has this got to do with Star Wars?", I perceive you asking.
The original post in this strand was on topic being a roasted Jar-Jar.
Silverwook was right to consider the feelings of people who don't like to see gore or animal flesh prepared for consumption but to take particular offence based on a Western, 21st century view of the human relationship with animals is running the risk of alienating people who visit the pages from the future or the past... or other planets.
Or as an dear old friend sadly seldom seen these days would say "double standards".
The footage here may distress some readers as it shows the consumption of live animals : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiD-n7ewvGo
