WED JUL 15 2:00AM  Cliffhanger  TBS

There is a good possibility this is a censored for TV version. Could anyone record/capture this?

I’m also after the censored for TV version of Die Hard 2 that’s been shown on TBS / TNT / ION.

I'm curious as to why you want censored versions.

I'm mainly just interested in the preserving the censored audio so that they can be added as a bonus audio track to the retail DVD / Bluray. They are usually unintentionally funny and I like how creative TV networks were at dubbing out the swear words. The Die Hard 2 re-dub is comedy gold.

 Example Please?

I'm happy to answer your question, but you need too explain what exactly you want an example of?

I've spouted this before and I think I was yelled at by the owner. Some people on here want everything no mater what.

Next someone will be asking for the pan and scan versions where there isn't actually any panning, so they could just take the blu-ray and crop it themselves, but of course, they want the commercials too. Why oh why? Oh, I forgot, some site has bit/byte-ratios and inflated compression-ratios and filling releases with useless things is the norm.

Much of this stuff is just wasting bytes.

I'm sorry to say this Skoal but the world doesn't revolve around you.

Now I'm not asking for this so I can fill some ratio or big up my ego. I'm just a fan of this film and since I come from the UK I'm also have a keen interest in movie censorship. Now if a censored for TV version exists I would like to see & hear it. I have no problem wasting bytes because bytes are free to me.

Anything else you would like to add? Perhaps you might be able to record the broadcast for me?

Got it.  Censored tracks can be amusing, and I occasionally prefer the re-dubbed lines to the uncensored ones.  Good luck in your search!

I agree that some censored lines are funny as hell on many films, Halloween II has some pretty funny censored lines. Killer Klowns too.

The problem is, I don't think the world revolves around me, however you clearly do think the world revolves around you because you took what I said personally in that you thought I was speaking to you, and as a result you mis-read what I wrote.

I never said you or anyone else shouldn't/couldn't like or watch TV versions. I just said (or to go without saying, didn't say explicity), just don't make a new thread and ask the whole world for help with finding them. Sheesh!

Edit:

And just so no one jumps down my throat, some TV versions need to be preserved, Needful Things for example, but I'm not convinced this one is worth preserving, etc...

Then ignore the thread, it's that easy!

Ignorance isn't something I like to routinely practice and I haven't done anything to deserve you to chastise me publicly and be off-topic when doing so.

This person would be better off requesting such a thing somewhere else and I think others agree, however I dunno fo sure.

Massive amounts of time (and money) were invested in preserving the tv version of Superman. I know because I contributed to that project.

Asking if someone if they could record a broadcast of an alternate version is not unreasonable. It's no different than asking if someone has a rare Laserdisc or VHS. People who've been around this site for more than a few months understand this.

I will try my best not to reply again because I don't think it's worth it, but I  can't believe you're comparing the International Expanded Cut of Superman to the Censored version of Cliffhanger.

For this instance, I don't think that comparison works or holds water and it's somewhat not fair because when you wrote the quoted post I had already stated, "Edit:

And just so no one jumps down my throat, some TV versions need to be preserved, Needful Things for example, but I'm not convinced this one is worth preserving, etc..."

Fortunately, the edits preserve time/date stamps and everyone can see this. I already admitted some TV cuts are worth preserving, I just don't think this one is such an example. I just don't understand people's mee too mentality.

Stuff like "Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?".

"Right now the coffees are doing their final work." (Airi, Masked Rider Den-o episode 1)

The point I'm trying to make is recording a tv broadcast requires little effort compared to other projects around here. People request things like this around here all the time. If a project is not your cup of tea, then posting in such a thread is going to be construed as shenanigans.

And since I don't have ESP, I can't anticipate your edits.

The audio will not sync with anything as there will be running time differences

@molly - yes, that line from "The Big Lebowski" is exactly what I'm talking about.

@dvdmike - I plan on remixed the audio so this wont be a problem.

I have found a crappy web stream of TBS so I should be able to record this my self in really bad quality. If it turns out to be censored I will let everyone know.

Sorry I got busy and everyone jumped in. An example of something from  The Die Hard 2 re-dub that is comedy gold.

I will record it but it will be an SD recording on to my Magnavox DVR Copied to DVD

I can confirm that they showed a censored version

  • gun shot entry /exit wounds cut
  • Fight scenes edited down
  • f-bombs cut or re-dubbed
  • Base jumpers have been cut from the film

I'm actually amazed they're still showing films this way in 2015. Hopefully they will rebroadcast Die Hard 2 again in the near future.
