Watched this Star Wars the other night and I think it may become my go-to version. Excellent work. Can't wait for the other two.

Any word on the V3 ESB Blu-ray? I hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th of July! :)

What, the other two haven't been released yet? I have to admit - I'm more than a bit surprised.

Ol’ George has the GOUT, I see.

Well, if I recall correctly, they took a bit of a breather while they worked on some other movie projects after Star Wars was finished, then they were going to come back and finish up V3 of TESB and RotJ. And now that it's been several months since then, I was wondering about the status of the next two parts of the trilogy.

I don't remember there being a V2 ESB bluray ..... I must've missed something.

Well, to be more precise, this would be the second blu-ray version, I thought it might have been V3 overall if the first one was DVD res. Anyhow this is in regards to the new improved (V2) TESB and RotJ blu-ray 720p versions, the Star Wars one having already been released a few months back. :)

I actually find myself watching the Theatrical V3 SD set more frequently than any of the higher quality versions these days. When I'm watching with other people I usually default to the DE because it's an undeniable crowd-pleaser, but on my own I've come to really embrace the haziness and murk of the GOUT remaster. I grew up in the 90s, and while I obviously pine for a proper high def version of the OOT, on a certain level that soft-around-the-edges home video look really enhances the nostalgia factor while remaining much more watchable on a modern TV than the various LD or VHS rips. So yeah, I guess what I'm saying is bravo for that thing you did years ago.

Hi !

I watched yesterday the ANH 1997 SE blu-ray and I want to say thanks to the team ! I prefer the OOT, but I grew up with the SE and it was great to see it again.

Question : is there anybody who wants to help me to match this to a french audio track ? Or to create french subs (there are juste a few changes with 77' subs) ? PM me :)

And sorry, my english is quite bad :/

Web forums have rules and norms. Your post here leads me to believe that you know neither of ours. Why should someone send you a link if you don't put in any effort?

I'd do that, but that would be against the rules. Look up *redacted*, and you'll get your downloadable Link fix. Just try to avoid the cd-i games...

Hi everyone, I hope this isn't too off topic, but I was just wondering...

What are the best available versions of the '97 Special Editions of ESB and ROTJ that are currently out there?

I love what Team Blu have done with ANH, and Harmy's Respecialized is fantastic as well. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's my understanding that Team Blu have sourced their's mostly from the TB releases, which are all but dead on the spleen (downloading ESB at ultra slow speeds as I write this).

Are the TB's still the best way to watch the '97 Special Editions? Are there any recent preservations/reconstructions of ESB and ROTJ using superior sources that I should look at instead?

Thanks in advance

Edit: Okay, so ESB is stuck at 83% and it's looking like this torrent is completely dead... Anyone know another place I can obtain the TB's?

As far as I know, the TB are still the best way to watch 1997 ESB and RoTJ. I'm sure someone can seed it for you, or maybe it's available on usenet.

I'm still hoping Team Blu will get around to those two at some point.

Thanks for the reply, I managed to preview the partially downloaded TB of ESB just to see how it fares in picture quality. I must say it looks pretty good already, definitely watchable. Would love to see what Team Blu could achieve with this source.

Would anyone be able reseed the TB Special Editions on myspleen?

I have the TB versions but I can tell you that the rip for ROTJ is terrible, and looks almost like VHS, so you can't get much out of it.

Hmm. It's been a while, but for RoTJ I thought it was the Gkar that looked very much like VHS. The TB seemed a bit clearer, with better colors, but there are definitely some pixelated artifacts going on. I might be mixing them up, though.

I managed to download them last night. As Jaws pointed out, the picture quality of ROTJ is definitely the worst of the bunch. ANH is probably the best looking, with ESB obviously being second best... But a close second at that.

ROTJ is definitely watchable though. It does look a bit like VHS, but surely it could be improved upon, no?

Here's another question I'd like to throw out there... What's the general consensus on Team Blu's ANH compared to Harmy's respecialized?

Do people prefer one over the other, or are they considered different leagues all together?

It's not quite fair to compare them as they aim to do relatively different things. They also relied heavily on each other for help and support. They're two different beasts. If you want to watch the film knowing it was sourced completely from one OOT source, go with TeamBlu. If you want a clearer, crisper image and don't care as much that multiple sources were frankensteined together, go with Harmy. But it's really up to your own preference on what you find most watchable and enjoyable. Both are great and both have their flaws.

Seems like it's been forever since there has been any movement on this project. Is it still going forward? Any chance the other two films will be released in time for TFA?
