the decision to not kill off Han is one I agree with. It would have made the ending to the Saga too dark.

I didn't purchase anything. I work for a DVD review site, so I got a set for nowt. Doesn't stop me picking up on the shoddy work (that's sort of the point of sites such as ours).

I think Luke and Vader should have remained on the death star. Done the whole saving, reconciliation thing right there in the throne room. It would have been tragic, but not dark. Tragic in a fulfilling sort of way. Vader had obviously fulfilled his destiny, to have that the fulfillment of Luke's destiny as well would have upped the ante.

I understand that wasn't the tone they were looking for, but it would have been a "bold move" that lucas likes so much.

Good thing the bad guys all wear helmets that cut off 75 % of their field of vision, then

Though the Ewoks themselves didn't offend me, I have always had a problem with part of their plot. If somebody was going to be seen as a god among Ewoks, it would have been Chewbacca. Lucas described the Ewoks as short, furry, primative cousins to Chewbacca. Meanwhile, C-3PO was seen as a god, and strangely, R2 wasn't. I guess all that glitters is gold.

And while I'm thinking about it, why were they ready to eat R2 and not Leia? They may be primitive, but if they were ready to eat Chewie (Chewy? ) and the two male humans, why not the female too? You think they'd be able to tell quickly that R2 wasn't edible but that Leia was.

And with all of the Sith and Jedi truly wiped out, the Force would have truly been balanced. *sigh*

*ahem*

Han and Leia may still have had kids. And the whole cycle begins again.....

But that is only if you reading the Eu novels or the alternate univesre comic books where plapy survives or whatever he does. in the movies han and leia never even giet married. And on top of that, leia doesnt decide to have kids because of fear that they would be darksider, but that all changes after the newer book tatooin ghost just a month or so before the old thrawn trilogy. if not for luke, leia might not have been strong enouf in the force to have the visions that convinced her to have kids.

I think that even though it was a decent story, Dark Empire could be done without in the official continuity.

I think that it isn't, actually.

The 'official' continuity according to TheForce.net is the movies, gamses, tales, and Bantam and DelRay novels. Personally, I think that Palpatine surving RotJ is a stupid idea. It makes Luke's victory with Vader pretty worthless.

Thats exactly what I was thinking, but I should have been more clear, the EU continuity. People in the NJO and even newer post DE novels still reference it.

Hm? I read the entire NJO, and I saw nothing about the Dark Empire comics.

Could you perhaps give some examples?

I think they just referenced some things about Anakin being touched by the Emperor while in Leia's womb in quite a few of the scenes when Anakin was worried about turning into his namesake, not about the physical Battle of Mon Calamari or the huge force storm.

I really don't remember which novel though, most of them run together to me.

Oh. I remeber that reference.

I just thought it was from (which novel was Anakin born in?)

Wait a minute.

You are telling me that my favorite non-female EU characters was created in a freakin' alternate universe?

Gosh, no wonder they chose to kill him off.

Since when was Dark Empire an alternate-universe?

OK.

Now I am confused. I thought Dark Empire was a comic in which Palps survived Endor and some stuff really different from the movies happened.

Yeah, he didn't physically survive, but his "aura" or whatever did and he had a bunch of clones that he could transfer to.

No, only the ones marked with the "Infinities" logo are alt-timelines, spoofs, or parodies.

Granted "infinities" wasn't around then, but it is considered part of the "real" timeline.
