It got unblocked. I know it's FOX that owns the distribution rights to Star Wars, by a majority of the franchise is owned by Disney now, and Disney is easy going about people using their clips in mashup vids for comedy, commentary and other uses. They just take official action when they see one of their movies being uploaded in full.

I know Disney is better than Fox at these things, but how does this process work? Some auto detection first blocked it, and then Disney was alerted to it and unblocked manually? Or did someone submit a petition?

The first option you mentioned : Auto detection blocks it, Disney is alerted to it by the uploader and they manually unblock it.
