I watched the DCP a few weeks ago and it looked great! Way better than the BD release... could use the color correction and such, but pretty nice anyway.

is there anyone willing donate the 35mm prints of all 3 movies to this project for who ever wants to work on this project?

Yeah sure, someone is going to give us 24 reels of 35mm film for free just for preservation purpose.

I'm pretty sure that I did mention these prints were rare and expensive.

can't something be worked out so someone could use them for this project?

Meanwhile, I found a 35mm print of the original teaser. This would be awesome to have scanned in HD since even the Blu-ray includes an upscaled version of it.

Here it is: LINK

http://www.ebay.com/itm/16mm-Film-85-BACK-FUTURE-Complete-Trilogy-/310285951059?hash=item483e7be053&pt=US_Film

Damn, it went for $2,600 and it was only 16mm... hate to see the price on a 35mm print.

i did find someone who has the third movie's 35mm print i asked if he has one and two's and if he could help.

Great, that would be amazing if he would help out with it. Did you find him on this site or somewhere else?

Agreed, I heard that BTTF 3 on BD had some stuff digitally removed by accident. Can't remember what at the moment.

I'd love for the BDs to be over, that crap sucks. When you buy a BD set and later download the movies from the internet and they're in better quality... you know something's wrong.

You sure found someone with a print fast! You must really be looking hard for people that own 35mm prints of the BTTF films.

i looked though twitter i just want the films to look better just like what adywan's doing to the original trilogy. i want back to the future to be given the 5 star treatment you know. i just love the classics like ghostbusters and too a lesser extant ghostbusters 2 that's why i want someone to color correct those two films as well. i think more people should go the extra mile and find or ask people who have the 35mm etc. prints to help make some of the films that don't look so good on blu ray better than the garbage blu rays.

I agree. If I were experienced with color timing films, I'd do Ghostbuster I & II, but I'm not. I am still trying to learn these things.

Heads up, I'll be seeing Part 1 in original 35mm on July 5 during a special dinner event. Let me know if there is anything you want me to take note of.

Curious, where are you? I wish I could see BTTF in 35mm, I saw it at a theater that regularly shows 35mm prints, but they only got a DCP.

I'm in Texas. I usually catch showings in Austin and San Antonio because the Alamo Drafthouse plays classic and cult classics very often and a lot of times they are original film prints. The theaters are run by very enthusiastic film junkies who really appreciate the lost art of film. Whenever something plays in original 35 or 70mm I go out of my way to see it.

Since this will be an original print it should not have the "To be continued--->" logo at the end, correct? Does the original say anything at all or does it say "The End"?

I do have the DCP that is avaiable on the special site. Is that a good reference for color timing?

Nice! Drafthouse is renovating the New Mission here in San Francisco, maybe they'll run 35mm there too (when they actually reopen, it feels like it's taking forever).

FYI, the theatrical version just does a smash cut from white to the end credits. The DeLorean flies at us, and BOOM, screen goes white and then cuts to the credits. This has actually been preserved on every home version since 2002, and I see no reason why this 35mm wouldn't be the same.
