I just found this thread, so I went over to TF.N, registered and posted the following in the thread you've referred to:

Another poster at originaltrilogy.com, here. I just want to remind everyone that signing the petition there has many benefits. It helps keep "the powers that be" aware of how big the Star Wars fan base is. It helps remind them that Start Wars fans have been around (and faithful) for a long time. Finally, and most importantly for some of us, it makes the point that we want the option to legally own the O-OT as it was during its theatrical release. It isn't our intention to bash the enhanced versions or those that enjoy them. Nor is it our intention to convince anyone that only the O-OT should be released.

Please lend your support to preserving the O-OT regardless of which trilogy or edition you prefer. The O-OT is the heritage for all of Star Wars. It should be preserved (and offered to the public) as such.
