It's weird to think about the fact that the OT could have been about a man called Mace Windy and his padawaan (two a's) CJ Thorpe. I can't help but appreciate how much work went into revising this first movie idea. He apparently re-wrote it for three whole years. Not to mention that it kind of gives us some insight into what went wrong with Lucas' writing in the PT. I think it's safe to assume that a lot less work went into it. Not to mention that ANH did have other writers polish some of Lucas' writing in the end.

To continue this line of thought; Dark Horse comics made a series out of Lucas' early ideas for "The Star Wars" a few years ago.
