What audio mix is used for the reels you have? As in, 70mm 6-track mix, stereo mix, or the mono mix.

I was under the impression they had a 2.0 stereo copy and maybe a mono one?

All three, last I read about it, and I recall some excitingly cryptic comments about the 6-channel mix which I chose to interpret as meaning something cryptically awesome rather than run-of-the-mill cryptically obtuse.

EDIT: Crap, no the 6-channel was for Legacy, which means the cryptic was definitely awesome rather than obtuse, but whatever it is, it's likely not in this project.

Will we be given the links or locations on here to where it will be downloadable when it's ready?

You forgot to tell us what team you are on.

Oh man, I'm indecisive... Team Olie or Team Negative? What are my choices?

I love the work you've done. It's a historic undertaking. The samples you've posted look great, and I can't wait to see the final product in full glory.

However, I must say I'm not such a big fan of this subdividing the member base of this forum into one elitist group that can see the preview, and others who can't. For a while I was thinking how can I get into the group that get's to see the preview? How can I get on Team Negative1's good side? Then I thought this is ridiculous. I don't want to have to meet all kinds of demands to watch a preview. I'm passionate about Star Wars, just like any member on this forum. If that's not good enough, that's fine. I will wait for the final release.

Exactly What he said^ being passionate about Star Wars should be the only reason for a "reward" that is why we are all here, not one Star Wars fan is better than another and we have all supported this 100%.

You're right that no one fan is better than another, but a lot of people donated to this project when it was in it's infancy. It's my understanding that everyone will get this preview, but that early supporters will merely get it first.

Who is an early supporter and who isn't seems to have become a little murky lately. I don't have a problem with the fact that contributers (financial or otherwise) to the project get an early preview, but why make this big announcement on an open forum, if only a select few get to see it initially? It's like an announcement that says we're having a party and you're not invited. However, if you wait at the door, we probably will let you in eventually.

That's just their way of doing things, I haven't asked to see it. The project will be done when it's done.

Obviously, this is exciting.  A 4th-generation print of Star Wars, the way it was intended to be ultimately seen (back then).  Obviously the special effects will blend better, there will be a healthy amount of grain...I get excited just thinking about it!

Have been following this one, and can't wait to see it.  You have done a service to all Star Wars fans.  This will be the ultimate version.  Best,

-TM

It's their project, so they've got to do it the way they see fit. It's just that exclusivity is a bit of a turn off for me, but that's just my opinion. That doesn't change the fact that what's been achieved is extremely admirable.

Update: Reel 6 has been completed with it's first pass. This means around 95% of the movie has been cleaned.

We expect to be done with the rest by next month.

We have started looking into the integration of replacement scenes from an Eastman print. We are also checking on some improved scans of the LPP we have done.

The Blogs have been around for longer than these posts were, which started in 2012.

Our members have always known they will get early access. We welcome all fans, but we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for their support.

They've waited 4 years or longer, while some of you have just joined.

Everyone will see the work eventually.

Out of interest,  how does the quality of your scans compare to the work Poita is undertaking?

As I understand it / remember it, your scan was a custom build using a 35mm projector and a modified canon digital camera (I'm not asking for specific details,  just whether I'm remembering the general concept correctly ).

Poita is using a 2nd hand professional scanner?

Assuming the quality of the prints is comparable, how do they match up?

As long as I at some point get to sit with my son and watch the greatest movie of all time the way I remember seeing it, that is all I could ask for.  We're all truly blessed to even have this happening.

Good enough for me! I've only just heard about it now since I had been AWOL from OT for some time. Harmy's work with the Despecialized Edition and got me active again while waiting for Adywan's ESB Revisited to be released. In the meantime I'll just act as a cheerleader... GO TEAM NEGATIVE1!!! (take all the time you need, really...)

We've posted numerous samples to give an idea of the quality to expect, so please look at those.

We can't compete with the IB Tech scans, because they will always have more detail.

Some parts of our print are very sharp and match up well. Other segments are being replaced with an Eastman print that is as sharp as the Tech but lacks color.

Overall, they are two very different versions, so we don't compare them.

For those that have recently joined, or have not followed our advances.

We mentioned this in some other previous replies. Since the project has started, we have gone through several hardware improvements, and also acquired more prints.

Currently, we have a 35mm Projector, and a Digital video camera, capable of capturing at 4k, in 24fps realtime.

All of our recents scans use this setup, and we have rescanned portions of earlier prints with it also, when needed.

We have a Dolby digital decoder for the sound, and are also looking into expanding to 70mm capture, and other future improvements.

We are mostly self-funded, but have had some donations for a brief period of time.

We have a lot of custom adjustments with the hardware, and have converted to mostly professional equipment since the time we first started.
