The colours look indeed great
The colours look indeed great
Amazing! Those lightsabers look better than anything I've seen in both VHS and DVD (also probably because of the high contrast applied for the home video releases)!

Blown away at how amazing those shots look!
Thanks for all the comments. We have started to send Harmy the Rancor and Sarlacc pit shots, so he can use them in his edit.

Here are some shots of the Lightsabers, they do have a blue tint:

I really miss this movie looking like this. Jedi is a good movie all around, but it's been presented so poorly over the years that it lost it's luster.
I am happy to see it just might get it's luster back.
Thanks for the preview.
Thank you for posting those lightsaber shots, much appreciated!
Here are some frames where Han hits Boba Fett, which was changed in the SE, as described here:

Pahahahaha, I scrolled down the page really quickly and it was like I was watching a flipbook.
A print is up on Ebay (missing reel 2):

Those sarlacc pictures look a bit overexposed to me; is that how they're supposed to look?
These are raw uncorrected scans from one of our newer prints. No color correction yet.

I understand of course that those shots are uncorrected but once you blow out the highlights due to (possible) overexposure, it will be very hard, if at all possible, to recover any detail from those areas. But then again, maybe that's just how they were shot and that's just how they look. I dunno, I was just wondering. :) I was only referring to those last two pictures of the sarlacc pit, btw.
I really appreciate all the hard work you guys are doing.
Cheers!

Certainly looks a lot better than on the bluray!
Yeah, even though the final clean/grade hasn't been done, for the time being it looks like the live action blends better with the matte painting than it does on the Blu Ray.
35mm prints will naturally have more blown out highlights than the negative that the BDs were based on. This is exactly how it would have looked in the theatre though I'm sure some detail can be recovered with colour correction.

I do hope they don't have something of a mess on their hands...
Here is a brief clip of the Lando scene, the prints all seem to have a lot of gate weave in them.
It is still apparent that it is matte behind them though.

The previous Ebay auction for Jedi ended with no bidders, and is up again for the same price, which seems high, it's also missing reel 2.

Hello.
It's been discussed before, but my biggest concern looking at various shots is the crushed white-levels.
Is that really in the source, couldn't that be prevented by lowering the projector level?
I just hope for the best quality and you won't needlessly crush the white-levels which are so vital in the regrading process. I'm not well known in that process but I know you can edit images without getting the crush. As in upping the gamma, instead of overall brightness.
Between the 2 prints we have scanned, and forthcoming ones. We're not too concerned about the results of certain scenes. We'll have plenty of material to combine for the best results.
In fact we have too much material, which is a good thing.

You can never have too much material. Ever.
