As I've said many, many, moons ago, I have both early 2001 DVD's. I know they are different because the Warner one has a non animated menu screen, although they kept the sound effects the MGM disc menu had.

Unfortunately, my house is still a mess. When I find them, I will listen for the missing Hal line. Given time, I might even be able to rip the audio track and get them out there for a detailed analysis. Between being a mod, and my so called life, this hasn't been on the top of my to do list.

I would personally love to see a preservation with as many older audio mixes as will fit. I've got the Criterion, MGM, and the early Japanese letterboxed Lasediscs too. (The JP doesn't have the intermission or intro/exit music though.)

I will do my very best to dig out my old DVD's this weekend. Now, everyone please take a stress pill? ;)

Thanks Silverwook, for responding to the request.  I hope it will reveal some good results for all interested.
