I believe if all the ice melted the oceans would rise about a foot. So yes, no tidal waves over New York. But it would be enough to completely change the weather systems and make earth uninhabitable.

Call me what you like, but if it's not in the book of revelation, I'm not too worried about it ending that way. I think this planet will out survive us.
