I somewhat disagree (not saying you're wrong). See, I don't think Halo was groundbreaking at all. I just think it was incredibly refined. Everything it did, it did well. The gameplay, while some may have not cared for it, was flawlessly executed. The graphics were top-notch, the settings, levels, and story were all great. The music was fantastic (probably the best I've ever heard in a game) and set the tone perfectly. Also, no bugs/glitches/collision problems whatsover. I just see it as the template for what a good game should be.

I think that is what we are all getting at: its not a game with a great new concept that no one has ever done before, its a game with a flawlessly executed concept.

Right. I was just saying that to dis-like a game, you have to have a game that you do like to compare it to. But with Halo, there were few games to compare it to, because it was the only great XBox game for the first year.

How it stacks against the other king Console FPS: I think that the single player game is better than Perfect Dark, but there is something about being able to single handedly mow down armies in PD that holds a special place in my heart. And PD wins in multiplayer hands down.

As for Goldeneye, I havent played enough of it to compare.

Wow. Between R&C:UYA, GTA:SA, Halo2, and Metroid Prime 2, Jak 3, and the Nintendo DS... I don't think there is enough money in the world to fund this month of gaming.

Check out my new sig....

You're underwhelmed by HALO 2?

As much as it's been hyped, that doesn't surprise me.

My roommate (who doesn't care for gaming) played an 8 player Slayer last night and he was won over.

Later this month another guy is moving into our house, who has an xbox. That will give us three TV's and two boxes; we already have the router. Hot diggity.

I really loved Halo on X-box, but I didnt appreciate it enough until I played it on PC. I have to admit it was all about the controls for me. The X-box controller feels like a loaf of bread with buttons and joysticks on it!
But, Im biased, I had been playing CS and MoH for a long time before I ever played Halo - so perhaps it was simply because I was used to it. However, ive been playing Halo 2 with my friends for a day now, and man...its great. I dont think it wins out over CS:Source for my dollars, but its damn good, and it will be rounding out my Christmas treasure.

P.S. Metroid Prime 2 is a no brainer for me, I just have to wait until i get my next check. Im definitely a GC fanboy, the next 6 months are looking amazing for us (GC owners)!!

I was raised on Dark Forces and Bond. When I first tried Halo, I used the Bond controls because I was used to it. At some point I decided to switch, and later played Half Life (PS2 version) and Halo with default controls. Point is, I can certainly sympathize with not being used to the controls. It really gets ingrained in you. I was playing like I was drunk for a VERY long time. Turning left instead of right, strafing into corners and not knowing how to get out, etc.

Now that's how I play bond.

You arent' joking.

Metroid Prime 2
Paper Mario 2
Resident Evil 4
PoP Warrior Within (You all know it will control best on the 'Cube)
Possibly the New Zelda...

But the 2004-2005 fiscal year is looking to be the best year in the history of games.

The official numbers are in:
First day of Halo 2
$125 Million
2.4 million units sold in US and Canada.

Holy Monkeys.

...and I can't believe I contributed to those numbers by buying Halo2...

yet despite that, the game schooled me. It's just not a game i can play for hours on end.
Which is the more foolish, the fool (the OT) or the fool who follows (the PT)?

Wow. That's a lot. A lot a lot.

So. It schooled you? On what difficulty?

A couple people said they didn't like it as much...apparently grenades are less accurate, heavy weapon recoil makes it hard to aim (as in real life, an automatic weapon will drift upwards with sustained fire), if you melee while double weilding you drop a weapon, etc.

I haven't played it yet, so I don't know if the good outweighs the bad. I did play multiplayer Halo 1 last night for the first time in quite a while, and it was great. My roommates who haven't played much teamed up against me, who haven't played much VS. but have spent many many hours on campaign mode. It was a slaughter. Very satisfying. And yet deceiving because I know how easily most people could slaughter me.

I guess they were just THAT bad.

Now that I've played multiplayer a bit longer, I've come to the following conclusions:

1) Sword matches kick ass.

2) Magnums suck.

3) Charging a base duel weilding needlers is a bad idea.

4) Its a good idea to not run across the middle ring of Ascension.

5) Shotguns are still the best.
