My browser's acting kind of finicky with the links on tehparadox. Is there any plan to make Empire 2.2 available as a torrent, or should I keep futzing with the fichier links?

OK, here you are my thought about Star Wars Semi-Specialised Edition V2.2L - please take this cum grano salis, because I'm still using a small, old, uncalibrated LCD... I'm sure I have a perfect color vision - at least, following an online test, for what it worth - but my monitor didn't want to do the test, so... (^^,)

White: I LOVE your "whiter than white whites"! I always hated those tinted whites in SW, now I'm happy with them, finally! Un untealized sky is priceless!

But... there is *always* a but... maybe you have exagerated a bit with the green, that makes the faces look... "off", wrong...

Again, maybe it's just my monitor...

Sadly my projects are lost due to an HDD crash… 😦 | [Fundamental Collection] thread | blog.spoRv.com | fan preservation forum: fanres.com

I appreciate the feedback Andrea and i'm glad that I can count on you to be honest and make constructive criticism when you feel its warranted.

In this case I just think its your small, old, uncalibrated LCD playing tricks on you because you were very happy with the Star Wars screencaps and fleshtones before when you still had a calibrated display. The fleshtones of Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back are pretty much spot on for me.

Thank you for your input though, very much appreciated as always! :)

Does this version of Jedi have the Special Edition sarlacc pit? Also does that Dinosaur creature walk past the camera in ANH?

Sorry if this has been asked before but I can't seem to find a search function on this forum.

Yes the Return of the Jedi Semi-Specialised Edition V2.15 release coming up will have the SE sarlacc pit. Only Harmy has access to Team Negative1's HD footage of that scene without the SE changes. I would have to use the GOUT if I really wanted to remove the SE changes but the changes honestly don't really bother me all that much. I prefer to not have the picture quality in the scene drastically changing shot by shot as it switches between SD GOUT footage to 1080p HD blu-ray sourced footage, many would find it very distracting and it would take them out of the film, which is the very worst thing I could do IMHO.

As for the dino, that has indeed been covered earlier in this thread:

Any chance we could see a version of your Empire semi-specialized with a 5.1 track added to it?

After the release of the Return of the Jedi Semi-Specialised Edition V2.15, I plan to create Cinema DTS 5.1 tracks for all three Semi-Specialised Editions.

I'm really looking forward to getting to work on the audio side of things, it'll be a welcome break from all the time i've spent colour correcting the Star Wars films.

Just Return of the Jedi to go, I can already see the finish line...

Spectacular, a surround mix is all that's missing. If/when you do eventually decide to revisit the picture after this iteration, there is one cut in A New Hope that I find sort of jarring that you may want to reevaluate. In the Mos Eisley approach, the portion of the shot with the Ronto rearing up that you've kept is so short that it almost plays like a mistake. I assumed its presence had to do with the timing on the soundtrack, but since you're editing a new mix anyway, I'd consider removing it entirely if I were you.

Author

You're not the first to point out that edit point joefavs. I explained on tehparadox why I didn't just cut the whole shot. Here's what I said:

'Thanks for the feedback AwesomeJP! Yes I know the edit point you're talking about, where I cut the swinging Jawas from the blu-ray. The only other option is to cut that shot entirely which I tried but it makes for a very jarring audio jump in the music, where I have the cut now works much better in terms of the music. Its not the perfect cut point in terms of the video I know but it personally doesn't bother me much, the audio cut in the music from cutting the whole shot bothers me much more, so I prioritised the music over the video.'

Ah all right, that's exactly what I figured it was.

Anyone know if in ESB is lukes yell when he jumps from Vader edited out? Don't want to download these versions til the 5.1 mix is done. Thanks

It's not present, but it's also not edited out because it's only present in the 1997 version.

oh ok thanks! I was just under the assumption these basically were the 97 ones since they have the least amount of extra nonsense added in as opposed to post 97 editions haha

If only there were 1080p copies of the 1997 version. It would put color correctors like kk out of business. :)

Author

Haha yup. It seems he is making them as close to 97 as possible, but editing out anything that wasn't great or detracts from the originals.

He said that would begin working on those once he finishes the ROTJ 2.15 edition to go along with the editions he released for the other 5 films earlier this year.

And we have sadly not heard anything about the ROTJ 2.15 edition in a few months.

I have a bad feeling the project is dead. I hope not. :(
