AMC Star Wars Marathon .....

What's the big deal?  Spike does marathons all the time.  Anyone with copies of the three movies can do a marathon at any time.  And most of us here can do a marathon that is SE free.

I was just putting it out there is all.

Ah...still a "meh" since it will be the SE, but that makes a lot more sense.

They're talking about the AMC Movie Theater chain, not the TV channel.

Imagine if it was on the channel. The opening crawls would be sped up and scenes would be cut out to make room for all their stupid commercials.

I'm actually surprised Spike doesn't do this.  I was under the impression that AMC was one of the least-awful of basic cable.

Spike's broadcast rights ran out last year, didn't they?

Dcp of the blu ray masters right, no thanks.

My local AMC theater does not even show films on film.

The imax is fake imax.  Its all shown on video.

When they had the Indiana Jones trilogy marathon it   was on video.

If someone digitized film prints of the originals with a great deal of care i would not mind seeing it in dcp, even though i would prefer to see them on film.

Now that home TVs are getting so big I think it takes the incentive of sitting in a dingy, crowded, noisy, disgusting, miserable, overpriced, and uncomfortable movie theater away. Now that film is rarely used, there is even less incentive. I can listen to people talk and get coughed on by a 2 year old while watching a movie at home for free.

At some point, we will privately screen our trilogy digitized from film. We've already screened the first 2 movies, and Return of the Jedi is next.

A marathon sounds like a good idea.

Maybe have it down the street from the official marathon?

And invite the staff of this site next time? ;)

The person in charge of the screening had to have it private, with almost no advance notice to the hundreds of people that showed up.

Other members, are anticipating screenings in their local cities, by renting out theaters, and inviting friends.

The Team members are invited to all of them, but due to family, and other restrictions, so far its been very random who actually went.

Once we're done, we anticipate people that get the copies will have their own screenings.
