I have been waiting for a blu ray of the theatrical cut for a long time, and it doesn't look like it's ever going to happen. So I would love to get this if it's still available :D

I actually like the Director's Cut, but maybe that's because it's the only one I can watch.  Could I please watch the Theatrical Cut again so I can start hating the Director's Cut?

Thanks for handling the requests, stretch.

I'm going ahead and finalizing version 2, and will be uploading it hopefully within the next week.

Version 2 will be nearly frame accurate to the DVD version, and will include the 5.1 mix from the DVD and the isolated score mix from the DVD.  I will make sure for those who asked that it be BD-compatible, and small enough to fit on a BD-25.

If I get the laserdisc audio, then I will make a synced audio track available separately for anyone to mux themselves.  Thanks for your patience.

This is very exciting news! I'm looking forward for your second version of this masterpiece. You did a great job with the first one.

Update -

I hope you'll forgive me, but I'm going with an alternate shot found in the Director's cut over a shot from the theatrical cut.  The theatrical shot has a really ugly case of interlacing which I can't resolve to my satisfaction.  The alternate shot is fairly different, but it's still the same idea.  It also trims 17 seconds of upscaled footage out of the edit.

Have you checked the PAL edition for this shot?

I have not.  I'm satisfied with the director's cut shot.

First post updated for version 2, which is complete.  I'll get on uploading it this week.

Hi,

Unfortinately I can't get it to sync correctly in French, I'm off 3-4 seconds at the end.

I checked with 2 test scenes in virtual dub

first one "the horse" in the beginning

last one "the chair" after we see the guy in the cage

first source : my PAL DVD

horse : 905    chair : 221982  diff : 221077

second source : PAL Divx found somewhere

horse  : 898 chair 221975  diff : 221077

third source : mkv Z1 "dvdrip westdenco"

horse : 897 chair 222142 diff 221245

4th source : V2 official version

horse : 902 chair 221897 diff 220995

So it's hard to get sync when there are so many "theatrical" versions..

I'll try to timestretch to fit in but clearly there are not the same number of pictures...

I can explain those 3-4 seconds. There are two shots in the director's cut that I retained which were slightly shorter than the original. Each were the beginning of a shot with no dialogue, so after weighing the pros and cons, I decided to keep them rather than dropping them and replacing them with DVD footage.  That resulted in trimming the movie and sound mix by that length.

I had labeled this "frame accurate", but I didn't take these two shots into account.  Other than that, it is pretty much accurate frame for frame.

Shot 1: Beginning of scene with Constanze visiting Salieri. The first 1-2 seconds of the shot of Salieri walking up before saying "how can I help you?" are missing.

Shot 2: Scene where Mozart's father visits. After they hug, it cuts to a shot of the door opening. The first 1-2 seconds of that shot are missing.

If you edit the sound at those points, you might get your sync to work. However the missing 1-2 seconds from shot 2 includes music. I adjusted that particular section of the sound mix to preserve the music.

ok thanks

but a "frame accurate" version would have allowed anyone with a theatrical cut DVD in any language to make his own localized version ....

Sorry about that.  If you sent me the audio, I could sync it for you.
