I never bother with the May The Fourth be with you much, but I’m obviously very aware of it (as we all are). I think I also mentioned to you in the past that my now former boss is a huge nerd (I moved to a different city). Not a poser nerd, but an actual sci-fi knowledgeable nerd. Also a huge cosplay nerd. I posted her May 4th pic last year.
This was her at work yesterday (blue blouse), a nerd hiding in plain sight. I’ve seen that graphic before, but never worn quite so stylishly. The woman on the left is the woman in our division who replaced me. Just a hunch, but I sense everyone was probably ok with that choice. ;-)
She's also an equally knowledgeable nerd.
Both women are degreed scientists, preeminent in their field. They can flow seamlessly between stratigraphic isopach discussions, to explaining how you should be able to see the mandibles when looking out of the cockpit on the Millennium Falcon – and they’ll back it up with mathematical equations and diagrams. ;-)
Anyway, they both take the nerd image and turn it on its ear and they're both fun to be around when the discussions turn to lighter fare. I fit in happy hours when I return several times a year.
As before; They're colleagues second, friends first. Keep it respectful.
