Heehee, I want to be buds with that spider thing. It's oddly adorable.

Also thank you for fixing that issue with Vader's neck--or lack thereof. It used to stick out like a sore thumb.

I really like all the colors in your new Clip a lot it all feels very nice and polished.

I actually like everything about the new Dagobah matte (set) and the Spider I think it looks really excellent and far superior to the original matte.

I did notice a bit of mist animation on the right doing something strange, but as always the clip is probably an older version and that has no doubt been sorted by now. (Ignore that comment it's facebook compression)

Vader looks great fixing the no neck issue too. I never noticed that before today.

I am not in any way criticizing but Although I extremely enjoyed the new clip it really looks great. I will give my usual feedback and thoughts you have given me after the experience which was only 1 thing of your new additions and one from the original film.

1. Would we be able to see the upper gun of the x-wing on the side view cockpit as It enters the atmosphere through the blue haze?

2. Would the crashed x-wing miniature have smoke rising from the engines?

And that is it... But I also have to admit I really like the comment on the facebook page about adding a visible splash when R2 falls off the edge of the x-wing.

It was very pleasing to watch and I thoroughly enjoyed it :) Thanks very much

vader's lack of neck ALWAYS bugs me watching empire. Haha

Not many really opportunities to see it without it taking focus away from actiony bits. I'm honestly surprised he stretched out that establishing shot of Dagobah.

Loved the new stuff, but I have to agree here, the extended shot seems ever so slightly too long. The movement of the flying creature (mynock?) helps extend the action of the shot, but that last half second or so seems superfluous. Extending it a little bit makes sense due to the new content, but too much and it drains the pacing.

Looks incredible!

I also was of the mind that the extended shot was too much.

My suggestion is cover the bluray portion of your screen and watch the clip. It makes a world of difference and suddenly feels the perfect length.

I think the only thing that shot needs is a small amount of water motion, perhaps small waves moving away from the ship.

Preferred Saga:
1/2: Hal9000
3: L8wrtr
4/5: Adywan
6-9: Hal9000

Thank you for posting the link to the 200MB version. That makes the world of difference and I recommend everyone to watch it this way rather than the compressed facebook version.

You can even see the blue glow of Dagobah's atmosphere through the cockpit as Luke approaches - fantastic attention to detail.

And the knobby spider shot is the perfect length imho, it's a deep shot with both foreground and background detail and it needs the extra second or two for the viewer to 'drink it in'. Beautiful work!

Amazing, amazing work overall, Adywan -- and that McQuarrie spider creature is stunning. Great work on the bat (?) creatures as well; really lovely stuff. Vader's new neck is also utterly seamless. Incredible.

As for the comments about the new longer take for the establishing shot of the swamp, I have to say I think it only looks like it's too long now because we're seeing it in direct comparison with the original version. Try watching it while ignoring or blocking the Bluray portion of the screen, and I think you'll agree it flows quite well. If not, well... different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Keep up the great work, Ady.

Ronster, I thought you might be onto something there, so thought I'd check it out...but on having a quick look at a couple of differing side-on blueprints, it looks from them that the uppermost part of the top closed guns would either be in line with the back corner of Luke's downwards-angled, side cockpit window (which is hidden by his head), or just ever so slightly below it.

So assuming the camera POV is pointed somewhat directly side-on to the window and Luke's head (which is how I see it personally), then no, I reckon it *wouldn't* be visible.

And I guess the smoke seen rising from the new X-Wing miniature is needed no matter what, so that it matches up with the smoke seen in the full-size version shot immediately afterwards.

My own thoughts regarding the extended 'Nobby' shot, are that I agree with those who think it works well...given that it happens to be a kinda 'establishing' shot of what Luke has gotten himself into, and the fact that it gives a moment of additional time to soak the whole vista in, and study it's contents.

I'm loving the additional atmosphere of weirdness and potential danger that 'Nobby' has given to the location, and the new 'flying critters' came out great too.  Their new flightpath draws you further into the back of the shot I reckon, and the whole background looks very natural now, especially with the subtle 'light-ray' shining through the trees.  It's an *actual* swamp on 'Dagobah' now!...or at the very least, it looks like they built an absolutely enormous set which stretches way into the distance now.  Marvellous stuff.

is this the one and only spider scene or will there be more??

more spiders....more spiders....

I think everything looks fantastic.  And the length of the establishing shot is just fine IMO, I think that if the comparison wasn't up there going blank for a second most people wouldn't really notice the added length too much.

Speaking of, Ady - can you please post the clip without the comparison?  That'd be awesome.  Thanks!

Woweee! Incredible job Ady! And never noticed Vader helmet like that before, great fix!

LOVE the Nobby spider scene, set, and atmosphere, also i'm in the camp that things its length is fine as it establishes the scene.

I do have an idea however, and i'm saying this not to nitpick but as a possible issue, but if you could move some of the mist around, so that it slightly covers the spider area, but have it less busy where the X-Wing lies it may draw the focus back to the ship, framing it better so its less busy and makes the spider less focus and more of a background critter. Or not, as i love it as is too, great job Ady! As Chris Eubank would say.. May the 4th be with you! ;-)

The McQuarrie spider looks fantastic - it's incredibly well animated, and has a definite heft; not at all fakey fake!

I do, however, share the concern that it's somewhat distracting and perhaps clutters the frame. I think it's that the spider is there, in the open and in motion, at the start of this establishing shot - so we are immediately drawn to it. It's even somewhat moving towards camera, emerging outwards. And then, the critter remains in motion throughout the rest of the shot - so it continues to hold our attention.

An alternative composition might be, if the bottom right corner was darkened and the spider stilled. Then, when the second avian creature (nearest the camera) reaches the halfway mark of its flightpath, the spider could become mobile and creep out from the shadows. This way, when the establishing shot begins, we initially register the X-Wing, and then the flying creatures, and then the spider - it's less of a jumble, and builds effectively.

This could further justify the longer hold on this shot, too, because it makes better use of the additional time - not revealing everything at once, in the beginning, but spacing out the reveals across the length of the shot. And, the spider showing itself at the end, crawling out from the dark, could evoke a greater sense of foreboding.

Just my two pence!

- EDIT -

^ yoda1138 beat me to it, with a similar suggestion that also involved obscuring the spider's corner (albeit with mist).

The coloring looks excellent as always.

I liked the new X-Wing compositing as it enters the clouds. Was that CG or lifted from somewhere else?

Wow....what a treat. THANKS!

Incredible. I friggin' love the new spider, the retouched colors, Vader's helmet fix, the new consistent R2 shot with blue in the background, the subtle tweaks. Speaking of the spider, is that a new rustling sound I hear added from the movement from the spider or am I imagining it?

The new clip is much appreciated. Fantastic work.

Looks great Ady! The new background and spider have been inserted seemlessly—a true testament to the skill of the Revisited team. Thanks for sharing.

Holy crap!

Luke Vs the Face huggers :)

Just curious but was there any frame dropping done as an effect on the spiders movement? (Similar to stop motion)

I'm personally impressed by the miniature work, but feel the added fog is overkill.

Also, that spider - even if it is from the McQuarrie art - just feels too much like the dug in Jabba's Palace to me: unnecessary cluttering of an establishing shot.  Though I am very impressed by the work, I question the decisions. To each their own, I suppose, though. Of course, I'll end up watching this either way :P so I guess what I say doesn't matter too much.
At the least, I'd consider lowering the fog effect if it was added digitally to make it easier to appreciate that part of the work.

It's important to keep the surrounding shots in mind with any change. Look at all of the following shots with Luke. That place was fogged up to high heaven on set.

Excellent!

Love it!  Timing is excellent, love the new bit with the spider and the timing really shines.

I simply cannot wait to see the entire ESB Revisited all together!

Making an epic film…. perfect!

I'm certain it will be said that this was worth the wait.
