It wasn't for the Holiday Special. It was filmed for the dance number as part of an entertainment program at the time. There was a video online years ago which had part of the program either side of the video, but i can't seem to find it. The only one i could find was posted in 2010, although edited to remove the segment of the show, but you can still hear the clapping at the end.

The time has come for me to kill myself once again ...
This was part of a French SW broadcast.

What makes you think it was filmed on a Fox studio lot?

I've heard at least part of that disco remix several times several years ago, but I've never seen that video before in my life, until today of course :P . The simplified C-3P0 and Darth Vader costumes...they almost seemed like the costumes that would have been used if Star Wars was a tokusatsu production...
...that reminds me. Someone should make either a toku or anime(esque) adaption of the namco star wars famicom (japanese nes) game, with Luke flying the Millenium Falcon in search of certain members of the rebel alliance and fighting off dozens of Darth Vader doppelgangers that turn into monsters with his lightsaber. Of course, since the famicom version of TESB is the same as the US version but in japanese, it needs not be adapted. Think of the possibilities though...

A bit late for April Fool's.
And I still dare someone to use this in their edit. ;)
Where were you in '77?
And on that day in 1978, the germ of an idea was planted in George Lucas' brain:
"Hmm... What if Darth Vader was C-3PO's maker...?"
"These deadly rays will be your death..."

Probably does not fall into most people's definition of an edit but *cough* http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/STAR-WARS-THE-ULTIMATE-EXPERIENCE-Is-Forever-One-Last-Time-Television-Trilogy-Preservation-Set-SW-Commercial-Breaks-The-Ordeal-Is-Real-and-available-Use-with-Satisfaction/post/424616/#TopicPost424616 *cough* SW Break 10...
This is one of the most disco things I have ever seen. Heard Mecco's track before, but that video... It's something else. I like that both Vader and 3po can fly. And there are more than two of them.

Unfortunately someone has rudely pasted some letters across the video, obstructing my view.

Nute Gunray will be shocked and dismayed to hear this.

I'd make a joke about Nute Gunray and multiples, but that would require working spoiler tags... [hint]Darths and Droids[/hint]
