I'm hoping as the season goes on we get a better sense of when exactly in the timeline this series fits. As just based on the first ep it could be just a few months after the Battle of New York.

I started watching this a few nights ago, and love it. The downright brute violence is a bit rattling, but it's all done so well. The writing is excellent and the cheesy cliches bring you back into the comic book framework setting.

I'm very happy that they are connecting this show with the goings on in the MCU. A few episodes in, there was a clear statement made that this show takes place two years after the "Battle of New York", and the villains are profiteering from the reconstruction and general disarray left in its wake.  In a scene shot on the Brooklyn riverside looking towards the Manhattan skyline, there is no sign at all that the producers tried to insert or hide the existence of the Stark / Avengers tower. I clearly saw the Pan-Am (MetLife) building. I'm thinking they must be disregarding the Stark / Avengers tower due to budgetary reasons. For me, that building's visual existence or non-existence in the skyline does not affect my enjoyment of the show.
