I think Irvin Kirshener knew exactly what he was getting himself into when he signed on to direct Empire, he knew it was George's baby, and it's a credit to Irvin that it turned out as well as it did, I guess it's also a credit to it's director that Empire is the film least tampered with in the special editions.
