3) Empire Strikes Back lost music with David W Collins

GlastoEls is there any chance you can tell me about number 3 please. Empire Strikes Back Lost music?

I was at that panel also.  John Williams originally created music for many of the scenes that now have no music.  For example, several scenes on Hoth in the rebel hideout.  There is a lot of ambience but no music.  They played clips showing how it is now, and again with the music put back in.  The way it is now, the music fades out and back in at certain points usually at new scenes.  With all of the original music put back in, it keeps going and is timed pretty much perfectly with where the music fades back in.  They made it sound like the lost music has been available for some time and he simply mixed it back into the movie to illustrate how the scene would have been with the music in place.  It totally changed the vibe of the scene and they were right to remove the music.  It was more powerful not having it at certain places.

So, it seems that anyone who has the lost music could recreate this if they wanted.

Edit: Found this and I didn't listen to it but it seems like the same thing we witnessed except this version doesn't have the video:http://www.shotglassdigital.com/2014/06/05/lost-music-returned-to-empire-strikes-back-on-sw-oxygen/

Thanks for the reply Thorr, I actually found the radio podcast last night and listened to Part 1 of it. He has not brought up anything I did not already know though in that part which was what I was hoping for to be honest :)

But yes I am fascinated by it all the same. I will give the others a go too.

But does this matter when we are still without the OOT? I remember a post made by a user on the forum lamenting the fact that in 2015 we'll still be stuck with crappy laserdisc masters while HD-DVD swamps the market. Well now it's 2015 and the former has come true. I don't care if it made marketing sense to not announce any news on the OOT; Celebration failed on that part to address what I believe the single most important issue in the Star Wars franchise: getting the OOT restored to its rightful pre-1997 place.

Tyrphanax has anyone ever told you how much you look like Clive Revill?

I have no idea who the random guy is, he must be important if he has a Lanyard :-D

LOL! That was great.

Had Jaxxon been there, it might have gotten ugly though. ;)

Sadly no, I was too star struck honestly. Afterwards I thought of about a million. Sigh. He was really nice. I gushed a lot about how he's the real Emperor to me and that I'm a huge OOT fan. He seemed skeptical, I think, his table was pretty empty, sadly. I should have stayed a bit and chatted.

And yes, I am actually Clive Revill.

Keep Circulating the Tapes.

Would have loved to ask him about The Legend of Hell House, one of the best haunted house flicks ever made. If I didn't get tongue tied of course. :)

My highlights thus far:

1) Revenge of the Sith in 3D* (crowd cheering when Anakin pulled his lightsaber on the younglings was quite something!)

2) JJ Panel & new trailer (the cheer when Han & Chewie were shown...)

3) Empire Strikes Back lost music with David W Collins

4) Carrie Fisher panel (she's mad and so charismatic)

5) Art of Ralph McQuarrie panel

6) Canon panel

Today: Smuggler's Bounty, Mark Hamill, plus a panel with Clone Wars composer Kevin Kiner if I can fit that in.

Tomorrow: Billy Dee, Doug Chiang, Gareth Edwards & Josh Trank, and Closing Ceremony.

*Note: I've personally dropped my anger about the prequels. They're not going away, they're firmly canon, so I might as well look for positives. My ire for the Special Editions and the lack of OOT will never be dropped.

Final list:

1) Revenge of the Sith in 3D (crowd cheering when Anakin pulled his lightsaber on the younglings was quite something!)

2) Smuggler's Bounty - just a fun atmosphere

3) JJ Panel & new trailer (the cheer when Han & Chewie were shown...)

4) Rogue One (surprise trailer)

5) Empire Strikes Back lost music with David W Collins

6) Closing Ceremony

7) Carrie Fisher panel (she's mad and so charismatic)

8) Art of Ralph McQuarrie panel

9) Canon panel

Delighted that 2016 is in my home town, London. Jedi Master tickets in the bag!

Lucasfilm... are you listening? To the song, that we're singing?

Walking along, booing so strong, walking in a Hayden wonderland!
