I found a link to this column at Rushlimbaugh.com.

This is unbeliveable--these arrogant far-lefters really think America is that stupid. Jane Smiley....

I seriously hope that this isn't representative of mainstream democrats.

i dont want to start a fight in my last 10 posts but i will say this much the author in that article has a very valid point. look at the stats of who vote for bush an who voted for kerry and where they voted and you will see corillation between the red states as she calls them ans votes for bush. if you stand back and look at all the facts without getting insulted and emotional right ways you will see that the author of that article is more right then wrong.

I know that is a popular view held by the democratic party. Michael Moore certainly believes that the republican party wins by deceiving the populous, and his books and films are, on the surface, an effort to point out the deception and educate America.

Basically the premise is, the Republican Party is made up of powerful people wanting to stay in power and those who have been deceived by them, while the democratic party is made up of those who have seen through the lie and aren't interested in exploiting other people.

Of course there are "good old boys" in the GOP who fall into that category, and of course there is propaganda that blusters people into agreeing with them. But as I see it the dems also have their fair share of blustering and propaganda...like Michael Moore.

There are many people who vote both ways for the wrong reasons, but a lot of worth in both perspectives as well. University students tend to be democratic, so does that mean more intelligent people are democratic? Or do you look at the fact that the republican party is made up of older people, so those with more wisdom and experience are republican? Does being in a university make you more intelligent, or being older make you wiser? To say either party is based on a lie, I think, is a big mistake. It leads people to be completely baffled when "the lie" wins, and cripples them to change things in the future. Instead, if you are a hard core democrat, try to figure out why there is worth in the republican position and address it from there. I swear there is worth in there.
