The stop motion robots in the film are great. Definitely a Ray Harryhausen homage going on there, and references to other fantasy and sci fi. The alien judge looks like he escaped from Invaders From Mars.

I have a fondness for all these movies that jumped on the Star Wars bandwagon back then. (Battle Beyond The Stars is arguably top of the heap.) Most are endearingly goofy than bad. Even Lucas once said knew SW would be copied if it was successful, and he wanted to sit back and enjoy the copies.
