These say 1080p HDTV. Speed adjusting them would be nice. I've been trying to do it and I'm having a tough time with eac3toGUI. I just don't know how to work in it properly.

dlbsyst, is this a raw 1080i copy, or a 720p MKV? I have the speed-adjusted 24fps MKV versions, which I torrented a couple years ago. I would love to get my hands on 1080 versions.
Yes, these are the raw 1080i caps from skyhd. They have not been altered in anyway with the exception of ST6 which has been slowed and sycned with the NTSC DVD audio.
Is there a chance you would "spleen" the captures please? Pretty please?

No, I'm sorry I can't upload the files. My upload is way too slow. At over 100 gigs for the six movies, it would take forever. What I can do is give you the file names and passwords for the usenet downloads. PM me for details.
Maybe someone else can upload it to the spleen or tehparadox.
I don't like usenet because it isn't free. :P

I recommend UNS. It's only $10 a month unlimited. Not free but pretty darn cheap.
Not everything's free in life, sometimes you've got to pay for the privilege.

But your okay with one of us here, who pays for usenet just for stuff like this, to then spend the time and bandwidth to upload it for you, for free?
Did I miss anything?

This is a better example of how it should have sounded.
:)
Just watching the Star Trek 2 cap now and realized that the reason I thought these were looking a little mediocre and washed out was because they are encoded in the wrong color space making all blacks look gray including the borders. They are encoded in RGB PC Levels as opposed to RGB Video Level standard (similar to Dawn of the Dead Jap Bluray) as are all old Sky caps using the original constant bit rate encoder. A quick dip into the shaders of Mpc-BE and selecting 16-235 to 0-255 [SD] [HD] and they are like different movies with the deep blacks and colors I was expecting.

Another reason to start restoration projects... (^^,)
Sadly my projects are lost due to an HDD crash… 😦 | [Fundamental Collection] thread | blog.spoRv.com | fan preservation forum: fanres.com
While in the newsgroups I also snagged the following ....
The Captains EPIX HD
Star Trek 25th Anniversary HDTV 720p Upscale
Star Trek A Captain's Log HDTV 720p Upscale
These might make nice additions to a collection or restoration project.

Well in my case it's not a question of money, but a combination of living in an incorrect country, having a crappy internet provider (they "protect" me from going where or doing what I want) and not knowing how usenet works. That's why I prefer torrents. Or PIFs (if that's the right term)

I thought so ..... I saw them and immediately tossed them in the News Reader to get them before they go dead.

As long as you have a good program and use a place like Usenet.com, it's all gravy really. I pay for a better than average internet connection because my daughter uses the wifi at her mom's which is in the apartment building next to me. I also have a wifi enabled Bluray player so it helps there too.

@ Dlblyst. Can I get the info needed to snatch these off of usenet? Are they passworded? I'm going to grab a 3 day pass to uns and see how much I can grab. I have no way to search back that far so I'm hoping the uns search engine will allow me to do that.
I'd have pm'ed you but your inbox is full.

UNS goes that far back. I use Alt.Binz for my stuff and you should use NZBClub to do the search .... you'll be right as rain.
Many thanks to dlbsyst for helping me navigate the treacherous waters of usenet! I've got II and VI safe and sound, will get on the others soon.
Since I've just had a tinker with VI, here are my findings in case anyone else is planning on doing a project:
The picture is actually 2.00:1 ratio, which is less wide than the supposed 2.20:1 of the 70mm screenings. It also has some extra lines at the top and bottom (some broadcast junk added by Sky no doubt) so it is in fact 1920x1088 - this needs to be trimmed for BD compatibility.
x5gb was right on the money with the video levels - if you set the input levels to 16 - 235 in your colour corrector, you'll get the proper black to white range (and a generally pleasing colour balance).
The frames are a perfect match to the BD video, but the video is missing exactly 2 seconds of black at the start - bear this in mind if you're using another soundtrack (such as Buster D's terrific PCM rip).
Other than that, it's a very nice and filmlike presentation. Thanks to everyone who brought these captures to our attention!

Have you perused II yet? What are your thoughts on it?
II will be a bit more complicated, since I'll need to conform the DC to the theatrical for sound sync, but initial impressions are very good. The grain level on the BD was always fine, but it's the colour that really stands out on these transfers - nothing forced, just the way they always looked before twiddling became so popular!
I'm really intrigued as to where in the food chain these transfers fit in. The obvious explanation would be that they're from the masters the DVDs were derived from (they certainly look the same framing and colour-wise) but they're an odd assortment of directors' and theatrical editions - perhaps they were simply what the studio had lying around at the time. In any case I doubt anyone put a great deal of effort into them at any point, but ironically that's provided us with the most honest versions around.
By the way, forgot to mention that VI has the same burnt-in alien language subs as the DC DVD. Possibly theatrical, might have to look at a laserdisc for more evidence though. It will be interesting to see what they look like on I, II, and III.
Jetrell, did you ever sync your theatrical DTS for Generations to anything?
I've snatched 1,2,&4 thus far. So far they are fantastic! Gate weave, grain, and dirt are all present and accounted for. Well worth the HDD space imo.
