Okay, that is odd since I am not on a network and I am not sure why the guy at Microsoft couldn't explain that.

Thanks, it was really bugging me.

I think I am just going to have to get a new drive at some point.

Wouldn't you rather buy a bunch of granny smith apples?  They're good.

Well I like the taste of them but they always upset my stomach, that isn't a joke they make me feel sick as a dog.

So I think I will stick with saving up for a new drive.

I understand, I've heard other people say the same.

Have you tried Kevlar?

Okay now my Bluray drive is refusing to burn normal DvDs and Cds and my normal DvD drive has started screwing up the exact same way my Bluray drive was.

I can't find a fix for this so I guess I am going to have to try wiping my hard drive and doing a complete reinstall on windows7.

What a pain in the neck.

If you don't hear from me for a few days it's because my computer is down and I am having to reinstall everything.

See ya in a few days.

I know this is a stupid question and I have done this before but it was so long ago I completely forget how.

I need to wipe my hard drive and do a completely fresh install of Windows 7 but I can't remember how to do that.

I tried asking microsoft but they will only tell me how to create a partition on my hard drive and install Windows 7 a second time and that is not what I need to do.

To fix this problem it looks like I need a completely fresh install.

Sorry this is such a stupid question and thank you for your help and time.

What are your resources? Recovery partition? Windows 7 full dvd/cd? Windows 7 upgrade dvd/cd? At the very least, do you have your product key?

Well I have my Windows 7 DvD which is a stand alone copy premium, and my hard drive is not partitioned and I do have my product key.

The google search above has helped.

I was using the words "clean" and "new" in the searches I did and I guess that was throwing off my results.

Thanks.

Oh I got my Bluray drive working by figuring out how to get into the bios for my mainboard.  Somehow one of the settings had been changed and that seems to be what was doing it.  The drive has been working perfectly for two days now, so I think I am out of the woods now.  I don't know how the settings got changed in the first place but at this point I don't care as long as it keeps working.

Oh and I got a new keyboard I like, it's not as good as my last one but it was only ten bucks and it works well and feels okay.  it is also one of those ones where the keys seem to come out of a solid piece of plastic, so it is much easier to clean then any other keyboard I have had up to this point.

One thing I do hate about Windows 7 is that it no longer gives you an error code when something messes up or it's can't do something.  In the name of making things more user friendly now all it does is say that something can not be done or a program has stopped working.  This is great for people who hate error codes but for people like me, I have no idea where to start when trying to fix a problem.

Here is an example.

I sent up a second user account so that my little brother and sister cane play games on my computer without my having to worry about them messing up my text documents or my video or audio projects.  The trouble is a lot of games install parts of themselves(including their game save files)to my documents.  I didn't think this would be a problem, because I could just instruct the computer to share the contents of that folder with the other user account I set up.  The trouble is every time I try to do that I just get the message "This folder can not be shared" no error code or link to anything explaining why so I can fix the problem, just that one message telling me it can't be done and nothing about why.

I really hate that.

If anyone has any idea what I am doing wrong could you please tell me?

Thank you.

Does your user account have 'Administrator' privileges?

...

Although, I have to wonder why you would share your "My Documents" folder so that your bro and sis can play games. The whole point of separate user accounts is so that they can install games, and have files put into THEIR "My Documents" folder.

Yeah I have admid.

I moved some of my stuff out, they had played on my computer before so they had saved games data already in My Documents.

In the end I figured out how to copy the data and put it in the My Documents folder on their account.

I really wish Windows had some sort of way to lock folders and files behind their own passwords, that would make things so much easier.

Still as I said the main issue is that modern versions of Windows only tell you something isn't working, not why it isn't working and that bugs me more then anything else since I not only have to spend time fixing the problem but I have to spend time guessing at what the problem is before I can fix it.

A bit of one, I always get them in the spring.

You know the one thing that could win me over to Windows 10 is if Microsoft announced that sharing would be easier and you could put passwords on files or folders.  Then it would be worth the time it would day for me to download the update.

Just name the files and folders "Definitely NOT porn".  They'll never think to look there!

But in all seriousness, I'm pretty positive that you can do that.  Right click the folder, properties, security.

Hey this may seem like a stupid question coming from someone who builds his own computers and it may be a little off topic but this is the first time it has come up for me and I figured that someone here may be able to help.

Does anyone here know of a floppy drive that will work with Windows 7?  I don't care if it's internal or external, I found a box a while ago filled with old floppy disk that have some old stories I worked on back in the day and I have program to convert them so Open office will be able to read them but so far all of the USB floppy drives I have tried just will not be read by Windows 7 and that is the only computer I have at the moment.

If you know of a floppy drive that will work with W7 and could point me in it's direction I would be grateful.

Thank you for your time.

I have an audible account and I buy one book a month from them and it is a great value, there is just one problem I can't listen to them when I am away from my computer in my bedroom because I can't stream and my iPod died.  I can download them just fine but that is it.

I have tried googleing ways to remove the compy protection so I can move them onto my generic MP3 player but nothing that came up on the search seems to work.  I know this is a long shot but I was wondering if anyone here had ever had to remove the copy protection from a audible file and if so how you did it.

Thank you for your time.
