Think of them at the correct frame rate, with laserdisc audio tracks...

While they are better than the Blurays, no DNR, they are old looking prints with plenty of dirt specks especially 4 and 6 (6 has the same aspect ratio as the original dvd around 2:1). I wouldn't call them great like dvdmike. Better is a word I would use.

I would say 2 is one of the better ones.

While it's quite easy to denoise and/or "de-speckle" and improves somehow an "old looking" HDTV video, it's impossible to recover details from a DNR'ed video...

No I still go with great, I like the dirt, I am a fan of an analogue look to video and I like  the 70mm blow up ratio for 6

Any of you who have the HD Director's Cut have any way you can share ... or point us in the right direction of where we might find it online currently? :)

Newsgroups is the only place to find them that I know of.

I have all the original 6 Sky captures

That's great!!!

According to mediainfo data posted by Jetrell Fo, it seems quality is not that bad, to be an HDTV broadcast... may you add some comment on their overall video quality?

I happen to enjoy them like dvdmike does.  The frame rate needs to be fixed for NTSC but other than that ..... I have everything up to Insurrection from Sky UK.

Newsgroup postings were in July 2008. Not sure any newsgroup provider can go back that far, I think end of 2008 is the best isn't it.

Like others, I have the majority of these caps somewhere on old hard drives (upto 6 I think).

I just pulled these out of "said" newsgroups only days ago.  I use Usenet.  If you'd like to find and post yours for others to enjoy ...... that would be great.

No.

The Undiscovered Country is not the extended or Director's Cut (how ever one might refer to it as.).  I believe that this is also the only one out of the 6 that was slowed down from PAL to NTSC.

Did you mean VI been the extended version, I don't ever remember there been an extended IV. If you do, I vaguely remember that it is.

Edit: Jetrell just confirmed above me it isn't, my memory deceived me.

Didn't realise Usenet goes that far back. Trying to get something going back even further to Nov 2007 but not sure if there is a provider going that far back.

Star Trek 2 was posted 2147 days ago. I am attempting to download now. My provider is UNS. I will let you know if I can grab it successfully shortly.

The posting I remember was 7th April 2008 (not July I mentioned above) which would make it 2588 days old, you obviously have found a later posting.

Interesting, I wasn't aware of older posting of the Skyhd caps. That said I have just downloaded Star Trek 2 without any problems.

I also agree with these guys. While not perfect, these SkyHD caps are currently the best versions of these movies. The Blu-rays suffer from edge enhancement and pretty bad DNR and these do not. Also, I like the imperfections in the image like dirt, scratches etc. Reminds me of the way these movies looked in the theater back in the day. These caps have the original theatrical color timing, as far as I can tell.

I would be SO excited for these HD caps. I've never been able to make heads or tails of Usenet, however. I need to research how.

What I would love to see is the other 5 of these in NTSC but I don't have the experience to do it properly or efficiently.

NTSC? I want them at 24 fps

Sorry, I mis-spoke, 24fps would be perfect.

dlbsyst, is this a raw 1080i copy, or a 720p MKV? I have the speed-adjusted 24fps MKV versions, which I torrented a couple years ago. I would love to get my hands on 1080 versions.
