 Sugar?

I knew that x-wing shot was going to be a tricky one!!!! would there be any way to use grindhouse edition to get the missing detail in the shadow... Just a thought to try and help you speed ithe result. It's that contrast destroyed detail again (Black holes) *waves fist*

The amount of work that's gone into this is insane when you consider what he has had to build and re-shoot.

For anyone in the know...

Has Ady established at any point the kind of files he'll be releasing? IIRC The first ANH:R file released was an mp4 (or similar, avi maybe? Doesn't matter) in SD, then the DVDs in NTSC and PAL and finally the double layer release.

Back then I burned the DVD NTSC. downloaded and still have the DL somewhere in an external HD, never got to burn it and missed the instructions Ady posted in the ANH:R thread in october of possibly 2010 or 2011 ( I made sure to remember the date to go back to it when I was ready to burn the DL...but of course forgot to bookmark it AND to remember the actual date damnit!)

Soooo, my actual point. Will he release ESB:R as DL and BluRay? My computer can burn DL, but not BluRay and there's no one I know who can burn BL. If DL, then great, I'll burn them both when ESB:R is released. if only BL, well... crap.

I do try to keep the Wordpress up to date.

There will be several official versions released:

Blu-Ray 720p BD-25
DL DVD PAL
DL DVD NTSC
720p mkv
Special features DVD-5 (only needed for mkv & DVD version as all these will feature on the Blu-Ray)

Personally, I bought an external Blu-Ray burner for $80 at Best Buy, which means I'm sure you could get one cheaper.

Your Best choice if you Have a Blu-Ray player but not a Burner would be the MKV 720p.

Check what file types your Blu Ray player supports also...VLC media Player supports MKV files most players do now days.

MKV files also support subtitles embeded within the file so for anyone hard of hearing this is handy for a stand alone file.

I actually Have a question about which actual version I need to own?.

Do I need to own the complete Saga Blu Ray box set to watch ESB and ROTJ or can I only own the Original Trilogy Blu rays box set (3 films) to watch Revisited ESB and ROTJ and ARSE when it comes out :).

I really don't want to have to purchase the prequels to be honest because I sold them because I did not like them... But If I need them to watch those three films  I will buy them on those grounds....

We ask that you own the release the edit is mainly sourced from. In this case, the Blu-rays. Alternatively, the digital copy that comes out Friday will do the trick.

Oh, you're asking if you need to own the Prequels. Not for the original trilogy edits, no.

There is some cool little feature in the Digital Versions that mentions something that was discused here. Han Solo's brown/blue coat. You can see the video at Collider.

They show the brown coat as it really is:

Thanks! I had no idea they were so cheap nowadays, it's been a couple years since I bothered checking but it looks like it's time to upgrade.

Thanks Ronster! Now that I know an MKV will be released it actually is my best option atm since my player does read MKV files. If I still don't  have a BL burner by the time it's released, this one + the special featured DVD5 will do just fine.

Back when Ady announced what formats ESBR will be released in, I thought to myself okay, time to pick up an external Bluray burner which I still look forward to utilising come release date.  Ended up with one of those Samsung external drives which has really come in handy especially since I recently picked up a laptop which doesn't have any optical drives either.  So now it's release date waiting time.  I remain patient. :-)

Hey Adywan, Is there any chance of getting a "Beta/Early" Release copy of ESB Revisited before Star Wars Celebration Anaheim?

As Qui-Gon would say, "not likely."

The time it would take for him to render a version could be time spent finishing it up.

Plus, after all the years he (and his team) has dedicated to this project, why would he ever put out anything less than his final, ideal version? It would just lead to a mess--the near-finished cut would most likely spread around teh interwebz and probably get confused for the final cut for quite some time, perhaps indefinitely. After, once it's out there, it can't be taken back. It's better for him just to wait and put out one version.

For everytime we get asked this question....this is the best answer I've ever read.

Yeah, I guess your right. I just wanted a beta version for personal use not to leak it on the internet, because I was going to watch the entire "perfected" Star Wars Saga before I go to Celebration Anaheim. Which consists of Hal9000's Prequels, Adywan's A New Hope Revisited, and Q2's Return of the Jedi Hybrid edit all I'm missing is the perfect Empire edit which essentially is Adywan's The Empire Strikes Back Revisited. *Sigh* I guess I've waited 4 years I can wait a little bit more. Thanks for replying! and Thanks to Adywan and his team for all the Hard Work!

Well I mean if you really wanted to you could take the clips Ady has released and edit them into Harmy's restoration.  Granted you'd be working from lossy, internet compressed video files but hey, if you really want to, you could.

If you want to see a "work in progress" for an obsessive fan-edit, check out The Thief and the Cobbler: Recobbled Cut. There have been 4 major releases of that, and on top of that a few demo/workprint/buggy versions. It's lots of fun trying to track down the ONE you want. And of course, Mark 5 is going to be amazing, with a new HD transfer ...

Slightly off-topic, but I'm wondering when Adywan is going to tackle the Star Wars Christmas Special. That's in dire need of restoration, and with Ep VII teasers running around, it's a really important element of the canon that a lot of people forget.

Happy Life Day!

I suggest either te Despecialized Edition of The Empire Strikes Back or The ADigitalMan Special Edition. The former, as you already might know, is a complete HD reconstruction of the Theatrical Edition. The latter is, similar to Q2's Return of the Jedi, removes all the most offensive changes to the Special Edition. Personally I prefer the latter because I like most of the changes to Empire, for example Cloud City is less claustrophobic and the Emperor hologram is more consistent and better in my opinion, except the altered dialogue (which ADigitalMan fixes).

So I was wondering... Are you going to add a cool lightsaber music to the Bespin duel like you added Battle of the Heroes to the Death Star duel? I thought that was very well done and I would like to see something similar to that.

I made a quick idea video on how it would be like (and please read the description) if you put Duel of the Fates from the Phantom Menace to that duel:

P.S. If I'm doing something wrong by posting the YouTube link the I sincerely apologize. It's just that I couldn't find a video adding button to the post like in Fanedit.org.
