Transformers: The Movie (1986 animated version) (a WIP) — Page 5

You may as well leave it it for posterity.  It looks a cel that's affecting the image in between the lines as well, so correcting it would probably be more trouble than it's worth.

I have a copy of the Transformers: The Movie Mokushiroku videotape coming.  I already have a digital transfer of the entire video and I was planning to include some of the segments on the Blu-ray.  The question is, should I just include the segments that actually are related to the movie or the entire video?  A lot of the video pertains to the later series like The Headmasters, Masterforce, and Victory.

Also, I have the "Toy Version" of Scramble City, which is sort of a re-telling of the OVA using toys and some stock footage from the TV series, that I was considering including in with the commercials.  I don't have a translation of the dialog, though, or even a transcript I could use to create a translation.  I'm wondering if I should just include it as a long commercial with a brief explanation or if there is some other option.  Does a translation or Japanese transcript exist?

Should I include bios for the principle cast, crew, and musicians?  If so, what would be the best source?

Ok, I could use some feedback on something, if anyone is still watching this thread.  I've done a number of small fixes to remove some of the more obvious scratches and spots that showed up on the original 1080p transfer.  There is one scene I'm not sure if I should fix, though.

After the back of the shuttle is blown up, there is a pan that has two vertical lines running down it.  They looked like thin film scratches at first but upon closer inspection, they are an artifact from the animation process.  Should these be removed or left in place since they were animation flaws and not actual film flaws?

You can see an example of what I'm referring to here:

  • I would include all of Mokushiroku.
  • Yes, please include Toy Scramble City.
  • I never read bios on DVD/BD's any more, I just go online if i'm interested.
  • Personally, I would remove those lines. But then, I'm planning on fixing some other animation errors in Transformers The Movie too. While they may be part of the original print, they bother me

As far as Mokushiroku, I will only be including segments.  The digital version I have had some other stuff added onto the beginning that's not part of the original tape but it seems to be missing a couple of other non-movie-related segments in the process.  If I can get a better digital transfer off of the original tape, it might be a project on it's own.

As far as the lines in that pan, fixing them isn't difficult, just time consuming since I would have to edit them out frame-by-frame.  I've considered a couple of more involved projects for later, including an enhanced version of the movie that fixes most of the fixable animation errors and maybe a restoration of the "Transformers The Movie: Reconstructed" video without all the blended fields, so maybe I'll leave them in this version since they would have been in the original presentation, and remove them for a later project.

I'm in the process of assembling all the slideshow galleries now.  I have a lot of material to compile, so it's taking a while.

Hi guys this project seems like a great idea, just wondered if there's any updates on availability :)

I've got all the audio and video files edited and synced.  Still working on the image galleries, which are taking quite a bit of time because they are going to be quite extensive.

Ok, I'm near the end of the tunnel as far as compiling all the content.  I just need to finish up a couple of galleries of pre-production materials and stuff like promotional posters and materials. The galleries actually took a lot more time than I thought the would.  I have a lot of material to go through.

I've lost contact with the group that was going to help get all the material compiled onto a single blu-ray so I may need to figure out a backup plan if I can't get back in touch with them.

Are you including the uk toy adverts?

I haven't been able to get good copies of the UK adverts that aren't watermarked or really low resolution.

I'm itching to watch this movie again and I don't want to suffer the new FX on my UK Blu-ray... Hurry up please! :D

BTW: "[COMPLETE] custom isolated music and score track (in progress)" ;)

Fixed that error.

I just have a few more galleries left to work on with a lot of interesting content.

Great to hear you're making progress on this project.

Is there anything you're still looking for? Would you like someone to proof the final project?

Well, all the content is compiled.  I need to convert the slideshow frames into animated slideshows since user-navigated slideshows would be too complicated with all the still frames this would involve.

All the content has been compiled and sent off to be converted to a BD disc.  The BD authoring may take a while.

I have a Spanish track, but it's only in mono and not the best quality.  I synced the foreign language tracks to the full-frame SD version and not the blu-ray video since it is the international version that was used on all but the original American English-language theatrical release.

If you have a better copy of the Spanish track, I would be happy to try and include it in the project.

Ok sorry i just checked and its not 5.1 its only 2.0 stereo but its great quality, check it out

I synched it to the bluray

I think the only audio that's received a 5.1 mix was the English version.  All the other releases were only mastered for either stereo or mono.  I found an Italian language version of the audio but it was badly upconverted to 5.1 off the original stereo and had some other issues that rendered it basically unusable.
